Before the smug “journalists” at CNN accuse others of peddling Russian disinformation, perhaps they should take a closer look in the mirror.

During Thursday’s evening broadcast of “Amanpour,” a CNN International show hosted by Christiane Amanpour, the host suggested that the emails regarding Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, are “Russian disinformation.”

In response, her guest, Republican National Committee spokesperson Elizabeth Harrington, reminded her that neither she nor anybody at CNN have any room whatsoever to talk about “Russian disinformation.”

Watch the climax of the heated back-and-forth exchange below:

The full exchange started with Amanpour haranguing Harrington about a perfectly legal Chinese bank account owned by President Donald Trump.

This legal Chinese bank account became the focus of attention when The New York Times ran a hit piece on Tuesday about how the account “raises concerns.”

To be clear, the account was established long before the president entered office and “has remained inactive” since 2015, according to the Times’ own reporting.

In response to Amanpour’s line of questioning, Harrington asked why the host — let alone anybody at CNN — wasn’t concerned about the evolving scandal surrounding Hunter, whom confirmed emails have shown was up to some shady stuff.

Replying to the RNC spokesperson’s point, Amanpour slowly began to weave the typical, cliche, overused and thoroughly debunked Russian disinformation narrative.

“Even Fox News would not touch this story that President Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, tried to dump,” she said.

“That’s not true,” Harrington replied.

It was actually partly true. Fox initially turned the story away, but after the story gained traction, Fox’s journalists jumped on it and began confirming the details, as the RNC spokesperson went on to note.

“Fox News just confirmed Hunter Biden’s former business associate, who identified by name, Joe Biden is the big guy, who’s profiting off these shady foreign dealings. And it’s not just China. It’s Ukraine and it’s $3.5 million from Moscow,” she said.

Fact-check: TRUE.

That’s when Amanpour went into Rachel Maddow mode.

“All right. You wanted to go there. You wanted to go there. … You know perfectly well that the White House was warned in 2019 that Rudolf Giuliani … was ‘being used to feed Russian misinformation to the president.’ Giuliani met in December with somebody who the United States government believes is a Russian agent,” she said.

“You know who I’m talking about, the Ukrainian parliamentarian by the name of Andrii Derkach. Are you comfortable with the president of the United States being close to a person like Rudy Giuliani who also says that he is not bothered whether any of the information comes from Russian hacking? What does that say?”

In response, Harrington really chose “to go there” by pointing out that CNN had spent years peddling the now-debunked Steele dossier that was reportedly based on actual Russian disinformation.

Are you comfortable that CNN used Russian disinformation from a Russian asset to leak it to subvert the peaceful transfer of power? That reporting on the dossier was complete verified Russian disinformation? Is it not? Is it not?” she said

Was the dossier real? Was the dossier real? Everything the Democrats accused us of doing is what they themselves did. Rudy Giuliani is not a Russian asset, and we’ve heard the smear very well before.”

FYI, that’s what’s called getting “REKT.”

Amanpour replied by citing the U.S. government as the source of her aforementioned claims about Giuliani. This was a bad move.

You know what also the United States government says? The FBI says this laptop is not Russian disinformation. So, what are you talking about here, this laptop is real. It’s not just a laptop. There’s other e-mails, there’s text messages. They are real,” Harrington noted.

Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe has also said the same:

“OK, I know that you’re trying to move everybody to look at, that but that’s not what we’re hearing from the FBI,” Amanpour then said.

This was also a bad move, because evidence from CNN itself disputes it.

“FBI said in a letter Tuesday night that it had ‘nothing to add’ to comments this week by the Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, who said there was ‘no intelligence to support’ that Russian disinformation efforts were connected to recently surfaced emails that have been behind stories critical of Hunter Biden and his father Joe Biden,” the outlet reported Wednesday.

This leaves one question, as noted by Harrington: “Why don’t you want to report this?”

“This is one of the most powerful families in Washington, the Biden family, and you’re OK with our interests being selled out to Joe Biden and his family when we’re suffering during a pandemic from Communists China?” she added.

Amanpour replied with a short spiel about how she’s a so-called “journalist.”

“I’m a journalist and a reporter, and I follow the facts. And there has never been any issues in terms of corruption,” she said.

Harrington responded by pointing out that it’s the job of a real journalist to search for and confirm the facts, even when those facts belie said journalist’s clear-cut ideological beliefs.

The discussion then concluded.
