For people who claim to be so reasonable, sane and democratic, self-identified Democrats have a proven record of acting stunningly unhinged.

From threatening to blow up the White House to assaulting children, Democrats have exhibited a loud, endless cacophony of unbridled rage ever since President Donald Trump stepped into the White House as president roughly four years ago.

One would think that their shenanigans would have tapered off once they’d seen that the president wasn’t going to usher in “a new age of darkness,” as the Democrats at The Guardian had put it in a piece published right before the 2016 election.

But no, it hasn’t — if anything, their irrationality has only grown, so much so that these days it’s hard to tell whether they’re under the influence or not.

Case in point (*Insanity warning):

“I’m terrified! Listen to me Republicans! Listen!” the woman seen above shrieks.

“You are the people in history they warned us about! They warned us about people like you! Pay attention! We’re losing our democracy! Wake up! Wake uppppp!”

The insane rant naturally provoked a lot of mockery and jokes.

Look:

She might be right about one thing, though — America may be losing its democracy, but not because of conservatives who support President Donald Trump. America may be losing its democracy because of people like her who’ve been indoctrinated into a culture of Orwellian illiberalism, unconstrained racism, rampant censorship and wanton hatred.

Hatred of whom? The “other,” which these days comprises anybody to the right of Karl Marx, be it black conservatives who’re smeared by leftists as “white supremacists” or Jewish conservatives who’re compared to the deceased Jew-killing dictator Adolf Hitler.

No joke:

Undergirding these radicalized views is the belief that anyone who shares an opposing thought is a fascist, Nazi and bad person. They’re the “other,” and they must be treated that way via harassment, ostracization and sometimes even violence.

Meanwhile, their voices must be silenced. After all, people who think differently shouldn’t be allowed to influence the world, should they? The far-left Democrats at The New York Times Magazine certainly don’t think so:

Yet during the days of slavery, it was the abolitionists who were the dissident voices, as noted on page 786 of constitutional historian Michael Kent Curtis’s book, “The Curious History of Attempts to Suppress Antislavery Speech, Press, and Petition in 1835-37.”

“In the South, legislatures passed laws that could be used against abolitionist expression. In the North, legislatures considered laws to muzzle abolitionists, and in some cases Northern mobs took to the streets to silence abolitionists,” the text reads.

Sound familiar?

“Congress muzzled its own debates on abolition petitions. It also considered censoring the mails by banning abolitionist publications directed at the South,” the text continues.

Again, sound familiar?

Why is all this ironic? Because Democrats purport to care very much about America’s sins of slavery. Yet their behavior perfectly parallels the behavior of the illiberal mobs who’d silenced the opponents of slavery back in the 1800s.

But for some reason, leftists don’t see this. Why? According to genuine liberal journalist Glenn Greenwald, it’s because of the “glaring fallacy” they subscribe to.

“The glaring fallacy that always lies at the heart of pro-censorship sentiments is the gullible, delusional belief that censorship powers will be deployed only to suppress views one dislikes, but never one’s own views. The most cursory review of history, and the most minimal understanding of how these tech giants function, instantly reveals the folly of that pipe dream,” he wrote this past week after the New York Post controversy.

While Greenwald was speaking specifically about censorship, the fallacy itself transcends to other issues as well.

Take Communism. Though Communism has failed every single time that it’s been tried, modern-day Communists are convinced that their brand of Communism would work — that they somehow know how to practice Communism the right way.

Similarly, though they spend their days falsely accusing conservatives, particularly Trump supporters, of being hateful, intolerant bigots and fascists who marginalize the “other,” they themselves clearly see nothing wrong with being hateful and intolerant toward Trump supporters and treating them like they are the “other.”

But how is it possible to hold such conflicting views? It’s not, unless you’re insane, or at the very least suffering from a severe case of cognitive dissonance.

Of course, you could just be high on drugs …
