Outside the political class, it seems everyone on the right understands that the deck is stacked against Republican candidates during presidential debates, regardless of how hard the Commission on Presidential Debates works to hide the bias.
It doesn’t help matters for the commission when their chosen impartial moderators are busted consorting with notoriously anti-Trump personalities ahead of scheduled debates.
C-SPAN political editor Steve Scully appeared to make a major blunder Thursday evening while trying to communicate with Anthony Scaramucci, the former White House communications director for President Donald Trump, who has since gone over to the #Resistance and now backs Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
In a tweet that was widely seen as an intended direct message, Scully tagged Mooch while asking, “should I respond to trump.”

It also appears that Scully’s entire Twitter account was temporarily down:

The suggestion is that he “nuked” his entire account not being sure how to delete the tweet — though it’s back up, minus the tweet.

Either way, the trouble here is that Scully had been tapped to moderate next week’s planned town hall event featuring Trump and Biden — the president backed out on the event when the body unilaterally decided to make it a virtual event, which many see as favoring Biden.

The decision is made because Trump had contracted COVID-19, although White House physician Dr. Sean Conley said Thursday that the president has completed his treatments and should be able to resume “public engagements” on Saturday.
An attention junkie, Scaramucci was only too glad to exploit Scully’s apparent blunder by advising him not to respond, while dropping an ominous warning of “bad stuff about to go down.”

The very public exchange caught everybody’s attention, including Donald Trump Jr.

Make no mistake, the question of why Scully would be conferring with a passionate enemy of the president about actions to take is legitimate, considering the potential role he could have played in the election had the town hall gone off as planned.
Questions had already arisen about the impartiality or the C-SPAN senior executive producer.
As noted by Joe Concha, media reporter for The Hill, incidents like this “underscore mistrust [in the] media.”
