President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign blasted Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s camp for continuing to run negative campaign ads, as seen online and on television around the country, late Saturday despite a pledge from the former vice president not to do so while Trump remains hospitalized with COVID-19.

Trump was admitted to Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday in “an abundance of caution” after being diagnosed with the virus along with first lady Melania Trump and several other Republicans.

Following his admission, the former vice president himself took to Twitter to say that his campaign would pull its negative ads for the duration of Trump’s hospitalization out of respect and sympathy, a decision that was panned by left-wing Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).

“Despite pledging to stop his negative advertising, nearly 100 negative Biden ads slandering the president and lying about his record have aired today while the president is at Walter Reed,” Andrew Clark, the Trump 2020 Campaign rapid response director, told Fox News exclusively on Saturday.

“Meanwhile, Joe Biden has continued to attack the president in his speeches,” he added.

The Biden campaign told the outlet that it is difficult to get all ads pulled from hundreds of other outlets, on TV and online, in just a day or two. Also, the Biden camp said that one ad wasn’t pulled because it wasn’t negative, but was instead truthful.

“Vice President Biden and our entire campaign are praying for President Trump and the First Lady to make a full recovery as soon as possible,” Biden campaign national press spokesman T.J. Ducklo told the network.

“We think it’s inappropriate to use the president’s illness to score political points on our opponent, which is why we unilaterally took down our negative ads,” he noted further.

On Saturday, an ad running on Facebook noted that the country will be better off once Trump is “purged.”

“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will restore our nation’s sanity, humanity, and global leadership,” says a supporter of Biden/Harris in a Facebook video ad. “America will really be great again when Trump is purged from our lives.”

Breitbart News reported that the ad began on Wednesday and was still running as of Saturday afternoon.

“The ads feature Biden supporters accusing the president of trying to take away people’s health care and attacking the president’s character,” the outlet reported.

President Trump has never advocated taking away Americans’ health care. Rather, he has pushed a less government-centric, more free-market-focused plan. And his administration is currently in federal court trying to end so-called “Obamacare,” a Democrat-passed law that many believe has never lived up to its hype of covering all Americans for less money.

In terms of negative ads the Biden camp is continuing to run, Fox News reported that an ad accusing Trump of planning to get rid of Social Security within three years — a familiar Democrat attack that also is false, as Trump and Republicans have never advocated for that — was still running in the battleground state of North Carolina.

In Charlotte, the former long-serving senator from Delaware was still on the air blaming the president for the COVID-19 pandemic, saying it was “unforgivable” that Trump “failed to protect America” from it.

And overnight in Las Vegas, Fox News reported, a Biden ad claimed Trump signed a “tax cut giveaway” and declared “Donald Trump is lying again” about Biden’s own tax plan.

In several other markets including Manchester, N.H., Orlando, Fla., and Minneapolis, a Biden ad is airing in which Biden talks about how health care is a personal issue for him because of the automobile crash in 1972 that took the lives of his then-wife Neilia and daughter Naomi, along with his son Beau dying from cancer in 2015.

“When I see the president of the United States try to eliminate this health care in the middle of a public health crisis, that’s personal to me too,” Biden says in the ad.

Though obviously tragic, no one close to Biden mentioned in the ad died for a reported lack of access to health care.
