‘Spare me!’ Hannity shreds media for ‘phony indignation’ over fiery debate

On Wednesday night, Fox News host Sean Hannity slammed Biden supporters and media apologists for disingenuous outrage over President Trump’s aggressive debate performance.

Some argue that Trump’s combative approach may have been the direct result of having to debate both his rival and intrusive moderator Chris Wallace, Hannity’s FNC colleague, at the same time.

Prior to fact-checking Joe Biden’s debate assertions in the monologue, Hannity called out the liberal media “mob” and assorted Democrat politicians and Hollywood celebrities who claimed that the first presidential debate was too contentious.

“I know you have the vapors…please spare us your phony indignation, spare us the selective, feigned, phony outrage, because ever since Donald Trump descended that escalator at Trump Tower with his wife Melania, all of you holier-than-thou idiots have been waging, nonstop, the most disgusting, deceitful, dishonest smear campaign we’ve ever seen in American history,” Hannity said, in part.

“On a daily basis you have all been unloading all of your vile, and bile for that matter, repulsive, unprecedented attacks on this president, his family, his supporters, and the people who voted for him. You have lied to us for years, you have dragged this country with your Russia conspiracy theory, lies and a hoax and it’s all been a lie the whole time. Innocent people’s lives have been ruined, and as a result, all of this is now disproven. None of you have apologized. I see no corrections from the media mob because they don’t care. Because they aren’t honest people…”

Hannity went on to play clips of Democrats in and out of government making unhinged allegations against Trump.

The Fox News host recalled how at election time, liberals like clockwork accuse Republican candidates of unfounded and baseless allegations of racism, sexism, misogynism, homophobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and wanting to destroy Social Security and Medicare.

“They have lacked basic decency for four years. But when they get a dose of it back to them, they want to know where is civility all of a sudden….Please spare us your phony outrage over the tone and tenor of a presidential debate. We know what civility looks like to the left; we’ve watched you for the last four years,” Hannity concluded.

Some in the media have even floated the idea of cancelling the remaining two debates because of the testy tone.

In the aftermath of the lackluster moderation job by Chris Wallace, the Presidential Debate Commission plans to make some rules changes to make the process more orderly.

In the run-up to the debate, Commission co-chair Frank Fahrenkopf explained that a moderator’s job description does not include trying to fact-check the candidates in real-time. Biden protector Chris Wallace didn’t get the memo, unfortunately.

It is beyond inexplicable how every four years, the GOP agrees to go along with liberal journalists such as Wallace to moderate the presidential debates as well as the VP debates. It’s kind of like that often-cited definition of insanity about expecting a different result.

For the benefit of the millions of non-news-junkies watching, Trump could benefit from bringing more specificity to his presentation, while still keeping it concise. Perhaps Trump’s best moment in the debate was when he reminded America that as a political outsider, he’s done more in 47 months in office than Biden has done over a 47-year career in government.
