More than one Republican on Capitol Hill is playing into the Democratic narrative following Tuesday night’s presidential debate that white supremacy is a compelling problem in America and that President Trump is somehow linked to the extremist movement.
Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., the lone black GOP senator, was asked on Wednesday about Trump’s response when asked by Fox News moderator Chris Wallace if he condemns white supremacy and said the president “misspoke,” but should correct his remarks.
“I think he misspoke in response to Chris Wallace‘s comment, he was asking Chris what he wanted him to say,” Scott replied, when asked by a reporter if he found the president’s remarks “concerning.”
“I think he misspoke, I think he should correct it,” he added. “If he doesn’t correct it, I guess he didn’t misspeak.”
Question: "Do you find that concerning, the President's refusal last night during the debate to condemn white supremacist groups?"

And with that, the anti-Trump media had their soundbite to keep the false narrative alive.
Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, did his part by telling reporters that “of course” Trump should have denounced white supremacists during Tuesday’s debate, according to The Hill.
With Antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters destroying American cities, burning and looting at will at times, Wallace zeroed in on white supremacy for some reason — yet, when Democratic nominee Joe Biden dismissed Antifa as just an “ideal,” he allowed that to stand without follow up.
“Are you willing tonight to condemn white supremacists and militia groups and to say that they need to stand down and not add to the violence in a number of these cities as we saw in Kenosha and as we’ve seen in Portland?” Wallace asked Trump.
“Sure, I’m willing to do that,” he replied.
When the Fox News host pressed him to do so “specifically,” the president pointed out accurately that all the violence we’ve seen “is from the left wing not from the right wing.”
For a second time Trump said he was “willing to do anything, I want to see peace,” and Wallace pressed him to do so right there on stage.
Having forgotten how Wallace phrased the initial question/statement, Trump asked what group specifically he wants him to denounce.
“Who do you want me to condemn?” he asked.
Wallace mentioned right-wing militias, white supremacy and Proud Boys — they were talking over each other and the president can be seen picking up on the specific name of Proud Boys.
“Okay, Proud Boys, stand back and stand by,” Trump added. “But I’ll tell you what somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left, because this is not a right wing problem this is a left wing.”
Because he didn’t repeat the exact “stand down” language Wallace used, the corrupt media rushed to report that “Trump refused to condemn white supremacists.”
Donald Trump Jr explained afterward what any reasonably intelligent person should be able to decipher, that his father “was talking about having them stand down.”

The Proud Boys group, which the FBI classified as an “extremist group,” added to the controversy when they reveled in all the attention gifted to them by Wallace and the liberal media.
