NFL all-time great Joe Montana and his Jennifer wife reportedly foiled an alleged kidnapping of their baby grandchild by an intruder on Saturday evening, September 26. The suspect is currently in the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 5 p.m. local time, the as-yet-unidentified woman, age 39, allegedly entered a home through an unlocked door in the celebrity enclave of Malibu, Calif., where the couple was staying and took the baby from another woman’s arms. “Our law enforcement sources say the intruder walked away with Montana’s grandchild to another part of the house where she was confronted by Joe and Jennifer. They wrestled the baby away from the woman. The intruder then ran out of the house,” TMZ Sports reported.
Someone in the house (it’s unclear at this point if it was the Montanas or another person present) flagged down sheriff’s deputies who happened to be in the neighborhood responding to another matter. They detained the intruder a few blocks from the home and charged her with kidnapping and burglary.
As part of his top-tier and legendary professional sports resume, quarterback Joe Montana, 64, won four Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers and was a three-time Super Bowl MVP. The 49ers drafted Montana out of Notre Dame (where he won a college national championship) in 1979. He played in San Francisco from 1979 to 1992 and finished up his career with two years with the Kansas City Chiefs. He retired from the National Football League in 1995. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the year 2000.
The grandparents have so far has yet to issue a public statement about the alleged attempted kidnapping in Malibu, which is understandable given the potential nightmare that they, fortunately, avoided through their direct intervention. Nor has the Sheriff’s Office commented as of this writing.
The couple has four kids, two sons and two daughters. News has not surfaced so far as to which family member was the parent of the child that Joe and his wife rescued from what appears to be a would-be kidnapper.
Cops have asked anyone with additional information about this incident to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Malibu/Lost Hills Station at the following telephone number: 818-878-1808.
Separately, Joe and Jennifer have become advocates for heart health based on a history of cardiovascular issues on his side of the family, which includes Joe himself developing high cholesterol and high blood pressure after he retired from football.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
