Former long-serving Texas Republican Ron Paul, a three-time presidential candidate, appeared to have suffered a medical emergency during a livestream of his program on Friday.
Video of the interview, which has been made private, shows Paul, 85, in the middle of his live-streamed Ron Paul Liberty Report, with the left side of his face drooping and his speech becoming garbled, which are the medical signs and symptoms of a stroke.
It’s not yet clear what condition Paul is suffering from, but Fox News confirmed that he has been taken to a hospital for precautionary purposes.
**Update: Great news! Ron Paul posted on Facebook from the hospital with the following message and photo: ”I am doing fine. Thank you for your concern.”
Several people tweeted out well-wishes for the Libertarian-leaning Republican, who served off and on as a U.S. representative from the Lone Star state beginning in 1976 until 2013.

According to clips posted online, Paul was in the middle of interviewing a guest when the health emergency occurred. BizPac Review has decided not to include the video in this story out of respect for the former U.S. congressman and his son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky), and their family.
In addition to having the same credentials as having served in Congress, both Pauls are physicians. Ron Paul served as a flight surgeon for the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1968, then worked as an OB-GYN from the 1960s through the 1980s.
Rand Paul, meanwhile, is an ophthalmologist.
Ron Paul left the GOP in 1987 to run for president on the Libertarian Party ticket, where he managed to get on the ballot in 46 states.
He ran for the presidency two more times — once in 2008 and again in 2012 — but failed to secure the nominee. He would not endorse the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) when he got the 2008 nomination and did not endorse Mitt Romney’s 2012 nomination, either.
During his time in Congress, Paul was often at odds with the GOP on issues like defense and spending. He once called secession “a deeply American principle,” adding “if the possibility of secession is completely off the table there is nothing to stop the federal government from continuing to encroach on our liberties and no recourse for those who are sick and tired of it.”
