Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn’s attorney, Sidney Powell, believes that former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigatory team may just be guilty of one of the very crimes they’d tried to pin on the president, obstruction of justice.

Speaking Thursday on Fox Business Network’s “The Evening Edit,” she responded to breaking news that 27 of the phones used by Mueller’s team had been wiped clean before the Department of Justice’s inspector general could scrutinize them.

This is obstruction of justice and destruction of evidence of the worst sort,” she bluntly told FBN host Elizabeth MacDonald.

She added that she’d pressed the DOJ IG to no avail in 2018 to collect all of the team’s phones there and then to prevent their possible future destruction.

“I wrote about it in an article in 2018 complaining that Rosenstein and Mueller allowed the Strzok/Page cell phones from the special counsel operation to be destroyed, and I demanded that the IG seize the other phones then and collect all the evidence off of them,” she said.

“And then the IG lets this happen. All of those phones should have been seized while at the end of the special counsel operation while they were still doing it, and they should have nailed every one of them.”

A startling report released by the DOJ IG himself in late 2018 found that someone with Mueller’s office had reset the government-issued phones of disgraced former FBI special agent Peter Strzok and disgraced former FBI attorney Lisa Page.

But instead of seizing everybody’s phones, which could have potentially prevented the other 25 phones from later being reset, apparently, the IG did nothing.

This was discovered via 87 pages of DOJ records that were released thanks to a Freedom of Information Act request filed by the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch and finally fulfilled this Thursday.

The records show that multiple members of Mueller’s team claimed they’d “accidentally wiped” the phones while trying to access their data.

A large number of prominent conservatives remain suspicious about the claim that the phones were “accidentally wiped.”

Look:

The now-deleted content of these phones matters because it could have shed light on any additional illegalities committed by Mueller’s team.

As of September 2020, one member of the team had already pleaded guilty to using a false statement/lie to fraudulently obtain a warrant on President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign officials.

Moreover, two members of the team — Strzok and Page — were booted from the team altogether in 2017 after virulently anti-Trump text messages were discovered on their government-issued phones.

Does the question, therefore, become how many other team members could have been exposed for bad behavior had the IG been able to inspect the data on their phones?

During Powell’s appearance on FBN late Thursday, she also addressed a couple of other topics, including her client Michael Flynn’s case. She’s long argued that Flynn was purposefully and maliciously targeted by Mueller’s agents, and she’s now hopeful that U.S. Attorney John Durham’s investigation into the probe will lead to indictments.

“It must be met with indictments this time, extremely serious indictments because they did worse than entrap Flynn. They framed him. They made up the false statement. They made up the original allegations to investigate him and they made up the false statements to prosecute him,” she said.

Powell also slammed Strzok for claiming Flynn is a liar.

“Well, Peter Strzok is a liar. Peter Strzok is the one who altered the 302 multiple times in conjunction with Lisa Page until he added statements that were not reflected in the notes of the two agents that interviewed General Flynn,” she said.

“And both agent Strzok and agent Pientka who interviewed him knew at the time he was telling them the truth. That’s why Flynn was never re-interviewed. They didn’t even warn him about a 1001 statement, and they didn’t let him look at the transcript like they do with every other witness.”

“They treated him differently than anyone else they ever interviewed for anything. They schemed and planned to interview him in such a way he did not even know he was the subject of the interview or investigation and they did that deliberately, violating all the rules in the process.”
