Texas Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw laid out a series of “radical Democrat policies” that would be enacted if the party wins control over the House, Senate, and White House in November.
In a short video, Crenshaw, a former U.S. Navy SEAL officer briefly broke down several pieces of legislation that have already been passed by the Democrat-controlled House and would very likely be passed by a Democrat-controlled Senate and signed by a President Joe Biden.
“Ever wonder what it would be like if they had all branches of government?” Crenshaw, 36, asked. “Well, this is a pretty good indication.”
The freshman lawmaker began with H.R. 1, which is called the “For The People Act.”
“What they mean by ‘For the People’ is they’re going to use your tax dollars to pay for political campaigns. Yeah, you heard that right,” he said.
Crenshaw said the legislation calls for a “six-to-one match for small-dollar donations,” which he says amounts to “billions of dollars in taxpayer funding” Democrats would funnel into “bad political ads” for their candidates.
H.R. 3, meanwhile, would impose price controls on drugs to an extent that would harm innovation and development of new medications.
“Of course, we want lower drug prices, but this [legislation], according to the Congressional Budget Office, would make sure you had 30 less cures over the next decade,” said Crenshaw.
The next bill, H.R. 8, “claims to be about background checks” for firearms purchases, the Texas Republican said, even though buyers in most gun sales are already required to submit to one, per federal law.
“This [bill] would make sure that, if rioters were in your neighborhood and you wanted to borrow your neighbor’s gun, you’d be a felon if you did it,” Crenshaw noted.
“H.R. 6 redefines what it means to be a ‘Dreamer,’” he continued, a term used in reference to kids of illegal aliens who were brought into the country by their parents. An executive order issued by former President Barack Obama — the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals — offers them special protections against deportation. President Donald Trump attempted to reverse it, but the U.S. Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision written by Chief Justice John Roberts, blocked it.
The bill “basically ensures that most illegal immigrants in the country would get amnesty and a path to citizenship,” Crenshaw said.
Continuing, Crenshaw said H.R. 9 would “force” the U.S. to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord, which “forces us to hurt our economy” despite the fact that the U.S. leads the world in reduction of harmful greenhouse gas emissions. The accord does nothing to force China to reduce its emissions, however, though the country is the world’s worst polluter, the former SEAL officer noted further.
Crenshaw moved on to H.R. 2474, which he said claims to be pro-worker but is really “pro-union boss.”
“It actually forces workers to pay union dues even if they don’t want to,” he said. The bill “also destroys independent contracting, so say goodbye to Uber drivers.”
He said H.R. 1644 claims to call for internet “neutrality,” but in actuality imposes new taxes and gives more authority and control of the internet to the federal government.
Another bill, H.R. 5, is allegedly an “equality act” that would lead to “federally enforcing the ability of men to play in women’s sports, ending women’s sports forever.”
A bill to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour, H.R. 582, would destroy 4 million jobs Crenshaw said, citing a CBO estimate. “Remember,” he said, “a business’s budget doesn’t change just because the government tells it to. It’ll just hire less workers.”
Finally, H.R. 51 would make Washington, D.C., a state, which would give Democrats “two new senators,” Crenshaw said.
“And that’s on top of defund the police, abolish [Immigration and Customs Enforcement], make excuses for China, make excuses for Antifa, abolish the Electoral College, and abolish the [Senate] filibuster,” he added.
“It’s a dismantlement of our country,” he said.
