High-powered attorney John Pierce, an associate of legendary attorney Lin Wood, issued a statement late Friday announcing that his firm, Pierce Bainbridge, will be defending alleged Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, by arguing self-defense.

The letter began by highlighting Rittenhouse’s character.

Prior to the shootings late Tuesday in Kenosha, Rittenhouse spent his day working as a community lifeguard and later cleaning graffiti from a local public high school that had been targeted by the city’s left-wing rioters earlier in the week.

Pierce then described in intricate details the events that had led up to his client opening fire on and killing two extremists, starting with Rittenhouse standing guard outside a mechanic’s shop across from the auto dealership where one of the shootings would eventually occur.

“Later that evening, substantially after the city’s 8:00 pm curfew expired without consequence, the police finally started to attempt to disperse a group of rioters. In doing so, they maneuvered a mass of individuals down the street towards the auto shops,” he wrote.

“Kyle and others on the premises were verbally threatened and taunted multiple times as the rioters passed by, but Kyle never reacted. His intent was not to incite violence, but simply to deter property damage and use his training to provide first aid to injured community members.”

After the crowd had passed, Rittenhouse ran over to a nearby gas station equipped with a first aid kit and intent on helping “injured persons.”

After helping those in need, he tried to return to the mechanic’s shop but was blocked by the police, so he returned to the gas station instead. There he was told that another mechanic’s shop needed protection, and so he set off again, only to be accosted by the extremists.

“As Kyle proceeded towards the second mechanic’s shop, he was accosted by multiple rioters who recognized that he had been attempting to protect a business the mob wanted to destroy. This outraged the rioters and created a mob now determined to hurt Kyle. They began chasing him down,” Pierce wrote.

“Kyle attempted to get away, but he could not do so quickly enough. Upon the sound of a gunshot behind him, Kyle turned and was immediately faced with an attacker lunging towards him and reaching for his rifle. He reacted instantaneously and justifiably with his weapon to protect himself, firing and striking the attacker.”

This interaction was caught in the clips seen below (*Graphic content):

Speaking on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” late Friday, The Daily Caller reporter Richie McGinnis, who’d witnessed the shooting firsthand, confirmed that he had heard a gunshot right before Rittenhouse opened first.

“What I saw was [the shooting “victim”] pursuing Rittenhouse, and Rittenhouse turned around. Right before he turned around, I’m not sure if this is the reason he turned around, but there was a gunshot. That’s actually visible on video,” he said.

After shooting the so-called victim, who’s since been outed as a pedophile, Rittenhouse “stopped to ensure care for the wounded attacker but faced a growing mob gesturing towards him,” according to Pierce.

Realizing that he needed to flee, he set off again, only to be chased yet again by the extremists.

“Another attacker struck Kyle from behind as he fled down the street. Kyle turned as the mob pressed in on him and he fell to the ground. One attacker kicked Kyle on the ground while he was on the ground. Yet another bashed him over the head with a skateboard. Several rioters tried to disarm Kyle,” Pierce wrote.

“In fear for his life and concerned the crowd would either continue to shoot at him or even use his own weapon against him, Kyle had no choice but to fire multiple rounds towards his immediate attackers, striking two, including one armed attacker.”

This interaction may be seen below:

One of the attackers was killed, while the other was injured. According to reports, all three “victims” were hardcore criminals:

After the second shooting, Rittenhouse reportedly tried to speak with the police, but they told him to move on, and so he complied. Local authorities later arrested him as a fugitive and charged him with intentional homicide.

Concluding his letter, Pierce wrote that the charges against his client are the result of “a reactionary rush to appease the divisive, destructive forces currently roiling this country.”

A “meaningful analysis of the facts” and “in-depth review of available video footage” makes it clear, Pierce added, that Rittenhouse’s arrest was an entirely political gesture.

Because of how Rittenhouse has been treated, he’s become a hero of sorts to many conservatives who view him as another Nicholas Sandmann, a young kid who was also made out by the media to be some sort of monster, when in reality he wasn’t.

Yet just like last time, members of the increasingly far-left media are completely unable to understand why people view Rittenhouse in a positive light:

Perhaps if CNN “senior reporter” Oliver Darcy performed some real journalism, he’d know the reason …

“A 17-year-old child should not have to take up arms in America to protect life and property. That is the job of state and local governments. However, those governments have failed, and law-abiding citizens have no choice but to protect their own communities as their forefathers did at Lexington and Concord in 1775,” Pierce’s letter concluded.

“Kyle is not a racist or a white supremacist. He is a brave, patriotic, compassionate law-abiding American who loves his country and community. He did nothing wrong. He defended himself, which is a fundamental right of all Americans given by God and protected by law. He is now in the crosshairs of institutional forces that are much more powerful than him. But he will stand up to them and fight not only for himself, but for all Americans and their beloved Constitution.”

FYI, as a member of CNN, Darcy is part of these “institutional forces” …

I.e., the same institutional forces that have also been out for the McCloskeys for the alleged crime of protecting their home from potentially violent left-wing extremists …
