Minneapolis, Minnesota, the home of the original George Floyd riots, erupted into chaos again Wednesday after a black suspect accused of killing another human being died by suicide in front of several people moments before the cops could catch him.
The drama unfolded after a dispute between two men and one woman reportedly turned physical and one of the men opened fire, killing the other man. The shooter and the woman then fled. The woman was apprehended a short time later.
“Later, at about 6 p.m., the male suspect was located on foot on Nicollet Mall between 8th Street and 9th Street. As officers approached the suspect, the suspect produced a handgun and took his own life,” local station KSTP reported.
In response to the suspect’s suicide, which was seen by multiple people and even captured on camera, rumors began to emerge on social media that the man had been killed by the police. This in turn provoked another round of looting and rioting.

A large number of local businesses sustained damage from the riots, including IDS Center, Nordstrom Rack, Foot Locker, Haskell’s Wine and Spirits, Brit’s Pub, The Newsroom, Devil’s Advocate, Walgreens, CVS, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Dahl Medical Supply, and Caribou Coffee, according to station WCCO.
Furthermore, a reporter with The Daily Caller was robbed:
Just got robbed at gunpoint in Minneapolis for my bulletproof vest and backpack

And then heckled by left-wing extremists on Twitter:

The looting and rioting broke out despite local authorities immediately releasing surveillance footage of the suicide showing that it was indeed a suicide.
“He appears to have seen officers approaching. He turned into a doorway of a building, produced a handgun, put it up underneath his chin. He then adjusted his stance, and shot himself underneath the chin closer to where it meets the neck,” Minneapolis police spokesperson John Elder said in a statement.
The surveillance footage confirms Elder’s statement to be true.

But as has been the case virtually every time a black suspect has wound up dead, the truth didn’t appear to matter to the looters and rioters. Perhaps because of indoctrination, they’d already reached a conclusion that the suspect’s death was a criminal act committed by the police and motivated by so-called “systemic racism.”
“They keep killing us. Every day of my life I wake up and I’ve got to fear for my life,” local resident Marques Gales complained to the Star Tribune.
Locals Tre Brown and Jay Jamison felt similarly.
“The past two years, three years, this has been happening how many times, it’s uncountable,” Jamison reportedly said.
Their remarks echoed those of NBA star LeBron James, who earlier in the week had posited the unhinged claim that black people have to worry about cops waking up in the morning and deciding “that today is gonna be the end for one of these black people.”
Listen:
“We are scared as Black people in America. … Black men, Black women, Black kids. We are terrified.”
LeBron shared a powerful message on Jacob Blake and what it’s like to be African American in America. pic.twitter.com/UOMD7rk7Bd
— ESPN (@espn) August 25, 2020
His statement was motivated by the non-fatal shooting of Kenosha, Wisconsin black suspect Jacob Blake, who was actually fired upon by the police, but whom a growing body of evidence suggests had been fired upon justifiably.
But unlike in Wisconsin, where local leaders breathed air into the deadly riots that emerged after Blake’s death, leaders in Minnesota immediately condemned the riots and warned that “unlawful behavior will not be tolerated.”
Look:
Minneapolis, it’s time to heal. We must rebuild and recover. Dangerous, unlawful behavior will not be tolerated. The State Patrol is headed to Minneapolis to help restore order. I remain in close contact with the city and every state resource stands ready to help bring peace.
— Governor Tim Walz (@GovTimWalz) August 27, 2020
Thank you, Governor Walz, for your partnership and support. The unrest must stop and healing must start. Destruction will not be tolerated. Healing our city will require peace and all of us working together. https://t.co/2Tf67Gh9bq
— Mayor Jacob Frey (@MayorFrey) August 27, 2020
We need everyone to keep the peace and immediately go home.
— Mayor Jacob Frey (@MayorFrey) August 27, 2020
But for the apparent crime of standing up to the mob of looters and rioters, both Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey attracted the wrath of the increasingly radical far-left extremists who inhabit Twitter.
Look at their anger below, and take note of their repeat calls for all police forces in Minnesota and Minneapolis to be “abolished” (*Language warning):
The healing of our city will require the immediate abolishment of the racist, facist Minneapolis police department, followed immediately by your resignation. Or the other way around. I could go either way.
— shannon (she/her) (@shanwholeheartd) August 27, 2020
Cancel rent. ACKNOWLEDGE that the police do not protect us. That will go a lot further toward any semblance of peace. There’s no peace to restore. Who benefits from “order”?
— nico/le w. ((she/her)) (@nicycle) August 27, 2020
NO healing can happen in a police state. This is the wrong move.
— Archie Bongiovanni (@grease_bat) August 27, 2020
Have you tried telling your cops to stop murdering people?
— BLACK LIVES MATTER (@Hatkevtonin) August 27, 2020
— young kris jenner (@playdate2you) August 27, 2020
It’s not “unrest” is violence instigated by police, heightened by police, controlled by police, and the people have to keep taking it
— @MakeHerWay (@MakeHerWay) August 27, 2020
It’s not clear if there’s any level of reason and logic that’ll ever be able to penetrate the skulls of people so indoctrinated in ignorance …
