On Saturday the White House unveiled a newly restored Rose Garden, and as usual, the simple event triggered unhinged reactions from the left, with blue check mark elitists and standard everyday leftists losing their God forsaken minds.
Take CNN’s Ana Navarro-Cárdenas, who expressed her hope that Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden’s wife will “fix” the garden next year:
This woman.
In March, as Pandemic began, it was a tennis pavilion.
Now, as +175,000 -and climbing- American lives and millions of livelihoods have been lost, she unveils new & NOT improved Rose Garden.
She cut down Jackie’s trees!
I hope @DrBiden returns it to the way it was. https://t.co/zHC8wb0WRc— Ana Navarro-Cárdenas (@ananavarro) August 23, 2020
Apparently, she just assumes Biden will win …
Then there’s longtime left-wing media figure and elitist Kurt Eichenwald, a man who’s called President Donald Trump every other name in the book.
Look at what he posted below:
It is a destruction of our history, something no other First Lady would have had the gall to do. This is the first time I have been furious that @FLOTUS is a foreigner. She has no right to wreck our history. https://t.co/9a4caQhmTV
— Kurt Eichenwald (@kurteichenwald) August 22, 2020
Take a moment to remember the real Rose Garden & its history, upended by a @FLOTUS, a tasteless former Slovenian model only granted citizenship 14 years ago, and certainly one who read nothing about this garden in OUR house & its historical importance. https://t.co/9a4caQhmTV pic.twitter.com/x7nj9m3qRM
— Kurt Eichenwald (@kurteichenwald) August 22, 2020
I still find it unbelievable that @FLOTUS who has only been a citizen since the middle of GW Bush’s second term had the audacity to wreck the Rose Garden, to pull up history dating back a lifetime. These trashy, evil, stupid people need to get out of our house. What GALL she has.
— Kurt Eichenwald (@kurteichenwald) August 22, 2020
Someone who has only been a citizen for less than 1/3 of her life should be reverent to America’s history, should honor our history, not decide her personal taste should rip it up.
— Kurt Eichenwald (@kurteichenwald) August 22, 2020
The xenophobic tweets slammed Melania, an immigrant from Slovenia, for the alleged crime of restoring the White House Rose Garden. Apparently, the fact that she’s “only been a citizen since” 2006 disqualifies her from the job.
Just how garbagy and disrespectful were Eichenwald’s tweets? So much so that even notable left-wingers, including Glenn Greenwald, rushed to slam him.
Look at a sliver of the backlash below:
I mean, if you’re really that upset about the sacred Rose Garden, and you’re not content with the fact that it can, you know, grow back, you can find a way to express that without degrading immigrants who are naturalized citizens.
— Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) August 22, 2020
Someone who has been a citizen part of their life or all their life should know went to admit when they are wrong and delete a bigoted tweet.
— Anne Lutz Fernandez (@lutzfernandez) August 23, 2020
.@kurteichenwals Citizen is citizen is citizen. Period. How long is irrelevant. Scoring Americans on that scale is xenophobic.
— Mark Lukasiewicz (@DeanLuk) August 23, 2020
She should go back to where she came from, right Kurt?
— John Dennis (@RealJohnDennis) August 23, 2020
One can critique the aesthetic choices without invoking nativism.
— Seth Masket (@smotus) August 23, 2020
But this just sets up different levels of Americanness – as if the accident of birth grants one special status. It undermines the legitimacy of naturalized citizenship as 100% on par with born citizenship.
— hend amry (@LibyaLiberty) August 23, 2020
I have been a citizen since never and I find this tweet extremely gross. If you believe someone is destroying a historic site, it shouldn’t matter whether they were born here or not. There is no birthright to fascism, revisionist history, or generally being awful. Delete this.
— Abraham Gutman 🔥 (@abgutman) August 23, 2020
Here’s the catch: Eichenwald wasn’t alone in his xenophobia. Plenty of other left-wingers, all of them everyday people, also touted the same sentiment.
Look:
@MelaniaTrump, a foreigner who got into the country illegally and can still barely speak English, a former soft porn model, has DESTROYED a century of American history in her #RoseGardenMassacre! @GOP @RealdonaldTrump
— Frederick Franklin (@Frederi48599212) August 23, 2020
#RoseGardenMassacre @flotus The illegal immigrant destroyed the White House Rose Garden. SHE had no right to dismantle the historical garden, in words of your #RacistInChief: Go back to where you came from.
False Immigrant, Porn Star has no right to destroy 50+yr of 1st Ladies.— Gabby Pink (@GabbyPink4) August 23, 2020
@flotus go back to where you Came from, #RoseGardenMassacre https://t.co/7BEj2J54sx
— 🌊MamaShoo🌊 (@NancyMamashoo) August 23, 2020
That’s straight-up racism …
Yet ironically, members of the left still maintain that the president and his wife are the true racists:
Oh look at Melania’s renovated rose garden at the White House. Does anyone else see how the small bushes spell KKK in rows? pic.twitter.com/dAIA4LF4OG
— Stone (@stonecold2050) August 22, 2020
Cognitive dissonance anyone?
The only good news is that Melania likely doesn’t care what these ghouls think, as she’s been too busy proudly touting the garden’s new design.
Look:
Excited to honor history & celebrate the future in our beautiful @WhiteHouse Rose Garden this evening. Thank you to all who helped renew this iconic & truly gorgeous space. pic.twitter.com/ggiqLkdGbw

Plans to restore the Rose Garden were revealed by her office late last month.
“The plan will provide a renewal of the design first implemented by Rachel Lambert ‘Bunny’ Mellon during the Kennedy Administration, which has been the guiding blueprint for the Rose Garden since that installation in 1962. Decades of use and necessary changes made to support the modern presidency have taken a toll on the garden and have made it more difficult to appreciate the elegant symmetry of the Mellon plan,” a statement from her office read.
“The refreshment of the Rose Garden will return it to its original ‘62 footprint and help ensure it will thrive with improved infrastructure, better drainage, and a healthier environment for plantings that reduce the risk of leaf blight. In addition, the plans include improved Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility, utilities, and support for audiovisual and broadcasting needs that will allow for the continued enjoyment of the garden’s natural beauty and storied history.”

The restoration concluded late last week with the new Rose Garden’s unveiling to the public:

-New limestone pathways form an outer border around the grass and an inner border for the boxwood and flowers.
-10 crabapple trees were taken to the offsite to be cared for and will be replanted around WH grounds. pic.twitter.com/ibnYHfvQMY
