Rep. Elise Stefanik, GOP powerhouse, will go after Biden’s ‘failed record’ in prime-time convention speech

New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, a Republican who gained prominence last year for standing up to the Democrat’s failed Ukraine witch hunt and inquisition, is reportedly priming herself to deliver another round of scathing rebukes of the left at next week’s Republican National Convention.

Speaking this week with New York newspaper The Daily Gazette, she revealed that she plans to use some of her scheduled prime-time speech at next week’s convention to expose the public to some hidden truths about Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden.

“Stefanik said she’ll use the slot to promote President Donald Trump and criticize Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee,” the Gazette reported.

She reportedly added that the upcoming race will present a “clear choice between President Trump’s record of delivering results for the American people during this challenging time versus Joe Biden’s 47-year failed record of far-left policies.”

But does she have the bona fides for the job of exposing Biden? Probably yes, as demonstrated by her own record, which includes a “rebuttal” she already delivered this week in response to the speech he’d delivered Thursday at the theatrical Democrat National Convention.

The rebuttal was offered on Trump TV shortly after the speech.

“I think that we are seeing 50 years of failed policies. We are really looking backwards to the failures of Obama’s and Biden’s term and Biden as vice president. … This is not the type of leadership we need,” she said.

“What we did not hear from Joe Biden was standing up for our law enforcement. We did not hear from Joe Biden how he’s going to grow our economy. And we deserve those answers. That leadership, we know, comes from President Trump.”

She added that, based on the convention’s ratings throughout the week, it’s been “in the toilet.”

“There were not a lot of people tuning in across the country, and when we are looking at key swing states, or you look at my district, I know that there are not people who are tuning in because they want to see strong leadership, and I think what we’ve seen this week is a real contrast,” she explained.

“President Trump has visited Pennsylvania, he’s visited Wisconsin, he’s visited Minnesota, and he’s visited Arizona. He’s out there hearing directly from the American people, outworking Joe Biden to earn their votes.”

Meanwhile, the Democrat Party faced criticism this week for effectively ignoring Wisconsin, which was originally supposed to be the location of the convention:

“President Trump put more mileage on the campaign trail this past week than Joe Biden has put in his entire campaign, so we are seeing a real contrast here,” Stefanik continued.

“And we’re going to see even more contrast next week when we see President Trump’s strong leadership and hear from the American people directly rather than the has-beens like the Clintons.”

She wasn’t just spouting talking points. The reality is that the Trump campaign has conducted far more fieldwork than the Biden campaign, according to Politico, which ran a report earlier this month highlighting the striking contrast between the campaigns.

“Donald Trump’s campaign says it knocked on over 1 million doors in the past week alone. Joe Biden’s campaign says it knocked on zero,” the outlet reported.

“The Republican and Democratic parties — from the presidential candidates on down — are taking polar opposite approaches to door-to-door canvassing this fall. The competing bets on the value of face-to-face campaigning during a pandemic has no modern precedent, making it a potential wild card in November, especially in close races.”

Listen to Stefanik’s full remarks on Trump TV below:

In one final shot, Stefanik highlighted the economic damage awaiting America if Biden wins the election in November.

“What he’s offering is four trillion dollars in new taxes, so for all of the Americans viewing this, for all of the small businesses across this country, those taxes are going to be devastating. It is going to cause job losses and is going to slow our economic recovery.”

“Look, I’ve worked with President Trump while serving in Congress. He has delivered the largest economic rescue package in our nation’s history over the course of the COVID crisis.”

“And I know as I visited small businesses in my district and talked to small businesses across the country, were it not for his strong leadership, they’d be in very, very challenging circumstances. But they know Joe Biden is not the answer because it means more regulations, higher taxes, crushing our small businesses.”

With facts like that to back her next week, her remarks could conceivably wind up converting some moderates, though only time will tell.
