No, this isn’t fake news, though it is nuanced …
Updated coronavirus guidelines issued late last week by the administration of Maine Gov. Janet Mills, a pro-lockdown Democrat, require that some restaurant staff wear their face shields inverted like a dog “cone of shame.”
See potential examples, some of them clearly meant to be funny, below:
Gov Janet Mills says – servers must now wear face shields upside down so that their breath is directed up, not down. Yes she wants you to wear a dog cone… peak insanity. I wish this was a joke.. its real 😆 #facecovering #faceshield pic.twitter.com/cnyojzTd3c

Where does Joe get his?
When they make this mandatory for all I’m sure you will find it on Amazon 👎🏻 pic.twitter.com/leXZDDRAo6

Reminds me of a Biden meme I saw a while back – this would actually be useful in his case, though. pic.twitter.com/crxPPCGRKs

There’s a catch, though. The policy only applies to front-of-staff restaurant employees who choose to wear a face shield in lieu of a standard coronavirus face mask.
“Front-of-house staff may wear a face shield in lieu of a face covering only if the shield is designed to be worn inverted, attaching below the face (e.g. as a collar) and open at the top of the shield, with the shield extending above the eyes and laterally to the ears,” the policy states.
“Face shields that are open at the bottom, directing breath downward, are not acceptable replacements for face coverings for front-of-house staff.”
I found the official guidance. If you won’t wear a suffocating cloth mask in hot weather you gotta wear the #coneofshame. pic.twitter.com/1hv1n1H76u

For reasons that remain unclear, the policy provides an exemption for back-of-house kitchen staff, stating that it’s completely “acceptable” for them to wear their shields in a normal manner.
Now, while the policy is clearly nuanced, it’s still exasperated people for one chief reason: Maine has some of the lowest coronavirus infection rates in the country.
According to data from the state government, as of Thursday Maine was up to fewer than 4,000 confirmed cases, only 407 hospitalizations and 129 deaths, placing it well below the horrific numbers out of other states.
And yet the state’s coronavirus lockdown guidelines still have restaurants stuck in Phase 2, raising questions of just how much it’ll take for Democrat governors like Mills, among many others, to back off already.

please, please tell me this is satire. I can’t take this bizarre 2020, election inspired human social experiment of dividing the sheeple from the people much longer

There are some psychopathic trillionaires sitting around a table right now laughing at the sheep! They probably wager on how far they can push the utter insanity!

I’m starting to think that these politicians have a competition going to see who can suggest the most outrageous mandates. 🙄 That’s the only logical conclusion one can come up with as there is no logic or intellect behind them. Ya have to laugh at the idiocy!

They are seeing just how well conditioned the public has been made. It’s a joke to the string pullers.

I don’t even know what to say anymore. I am shocked at how vulnerable and easily brainwashed people are. Not sure where all this is going but I hope it will end someday.

Um, creating an obstruction in your field of view while precariously carrying plates of hot food in a busy restaurant? No I don’t see a problem with this at all. 🙄I would be inclined to think there is something in the air of a gov’t office that causes IQ to drop.

This face mask wearing is getting more perverse and absurd all the time. It’s beyond time to return to normal and not be forcing/mandating/requiring these things at all.

Cases in California Texas Florida now are falling rapidly just like they did in New York in May. Point being, the virus will do what viruses do then disappear in spite of our nonsensical and destructive reaction to it

Maine has been under lockdown since late March. A couple of weeks after the state shut down, Fox News host Tucker Carlson called out the governor for shutting down her state’s economy despite the coronavirus barely being prevalent there.
“Based on what officials have repeatedly told us, you would expect that Maine would be devastated by the virus,” he said, adding that the reality was that it wasn’t.
The only devastation in the state, he continued, was the economic one.
“Maine’s economy has long been fragile. It will not recover from this for years — if it ever does recover. So did Janet Mills make a wise decision when she shut down her state? If you think she did please explain what other communicable diseases we should respond to by causing mass unemployment,” he said.

At the time, experts reportedly predicted that the state’s “economic fallout” could wind up being the “nation’s worst.”
Wait until the experts hear about the state’s “cones of shame.”
