Portland sergeant reveals real situation much worse than portrayed, says police muzzled by local politicians

In an interview this week with Portland, Oregon news station KGW, one officer with the Portland Police Bureau stated some inconvenient facts about the violent riots that have plagued the radically far-left city for nearly three months and counting.

Sgt. Brent Maxey, an 18-year veteran, told KGW that he was inspired to speak out because of the insistence by local and state politicians that law enforcement officers are somehow, someway responsible for all the crime, looting and riots.

“It really struck a little bit of a chord with me. I really thought that it was time for somebody who has firsthand knowledge of this to speak up. I just want to tell the truth. I want the truth to be out there,” Maxey said.

And so he did. He spoke out in great detail.

Listen to the full interview below:

The reality, he said, is that Portland has been a hellhole.

“They started off as protests. I mean, there was a legitimate message to a lot of this. … But these have now devolved. They’ve been hijacked by anarchists, essentially,” he said.

“And they’ve just kind of devolved into these masses of people that are just bent on destruction and hurting, mainly hurting police or anybody that really disagrees with that message.”

But many people believe otherwise because of disingenuous, false reporting from the media that have been used to portray the bad guys as the good times.

“You see videos of people with their hands up getting knocked over by police. That’s just a snippet of what’s happening. Those same people are the ones throwing rocks and bottles. Those are the same people that are throwing mortars at us,” he explained.

“And they’re trying to get that clip that shows us doing something wrong, illegal, brutal, something that looks brutal. I mean, it’s very calculated. They know what they’re doing.”

Indeed.

Nearly every morning, new video footage emerges showing rioters in Portland acting out violently, yet the footage rarely receives any coverage from mainstream networks like ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, etc.

Here are some recent examples:

Instead, the media seem to draw attention to Portland only whenever an opportunity to attack the police and portray them as the bad guys emerges.

This narrative was particularly prevalent when, on orders from President Donald Trump, federal authorities swept into Portland last month to try and quell the rioting.

To hear the media tell it, the riots that had been occurring for weeks had only just then spontaneously burst into existence on account of the federal authorities.

And then the moment the authorities departed the city, the rioting then just spontaneously disappeared like a fog.

It was all a lie — one of many that have been told but that, it would appear, the authorities in Portland have been prohibited from exposing.

In the particularly noteworthy clip below that was plucked from the full interview and then highlighted on Twitter by the Department of Homeland Security, Maxey admitted that local politicians have forbidden officers like him from speaking out.

Watch:

During the interview, Maxey also spoke of officers being doxxed and traced to their homes — and then having their homes be vandalized with graffiti.

“I know about people being doxxed. I know that there’s been visits at people’s homes … where, you know, officers have been visited. I’m aware of a couple of instances where people have shown up and just given little hints of, you know, writing on people’s driveways or their houses with chalk and things like that,” he said.
