DOJ slaps Yale University for discrimination against Asian and white applicants, orders halt to bigoted process

In a move that would likely never in a million years be duplicated by a potential Biden administration, let alone any Democrat administration, the Justice Department ruled Thursday that Yale University has been discriminating against whites and Asians.

“The Department of Justice today notified Yale University of its findings that Yale illegally discriminates against Asian American and white applicants in its undergraduate admissions process in violation of Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The findings are the result of a two-year investigation in response to a complaint by Asian American groups concerning Yale’s conduct,” the DOJ reported in a press release.

In a statement, Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband, the head of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, bluntly said, “There is no such thing as a nice form of race discrimination.”

The past behavior and rhetoric of congressional Democrats and their media allies suggests they would strongly disagree …

Unlawfully dividing Americans into racial and ethnic blocs fosters stereotypes, bitterness, and division. It is past time for American institutions to recognize that all people should be treated with decency and respect and without unlawful regard to the color of their skin,” Dreiband continued.

In 1890, Frederick Douglass explained that the ‘business of government is to hold its broad shield over all and to see that every American citizen is alike and equally protected in his civil and personal rights.’ The Department of Justice agrees and will continue to fight for the civil rights of all people throughout our nation.

The discrimination at Yale runs so rampant that “Asian Americans and whites have only one-tenth to one-fourth of the likelihood of admission as African American applicants with comparable academic credentials,” according to the DOJ.

The DOJ has ordered Yale to halt its discriminatory admissions process for the upcoming school year but stated it could conceivably restart the process in the future with permission.

“[I]f Yale proposes to consider race or national origin in future admissions cycles, it must first submit to the Department of Justice a plan demonstrating its proposal is narrowly tailored as required by law, including by identifying a date for the end of race discrimination,” the DOJ reported.

Following the department’s announcement, Yale University president Peter Salovey issued a statement vowing to “not change” the school’s racist admissions process.

“Yale College will not change its admissions processes in response to today’s letter because the DOJ is seeking to impose a standard that is inconsistent with existing law. We will continue to look at the whole person when selecting whom to admit among the many thousands of highly qualified applicants. We will continue to look at what students have accomplished and hope to contribute to Yale and the world,” he said.

“We will continue to create a student body that is rich in a diverse range of ideas, expertise, and experiences. Such a student body greatly enhances students’ academic experiences and maximizes their future success. By bringing people of different backgrounds, talents, and perspectives together, we best prepare our students for a complex and dynamic world.”

But the facts strongly suggest Yale doesn’t actually seek to achieve a campus that is “rich in a diverse range of ideas.”

“Despite Yale’s push for increased diversity among faculty members — specifically with regards to demographic categories such as race, gender and sexual orientation — several members of the University community voiced their concerns about the lack of political diversity. … [C]onservative professors criticized what they saw as a lack of effort to recruit a faculty body that better represents the nation’s political makeup,” the Yale Daily News, an independent student newspaper, reported last year.

“Four professors interviewed by the News said that as is, Yale’s climate stifles political discourse. According to a 2017 survey, almost 75 percent of Yale professors said they were liberal. … According to computer science professor David Gelernter ‘76, faculty political diversity at Yale is low: ‘0%,’ he wrote in an email. He added that while there are a ‘few conservatives, including prominent ones,’ their numbers are not high enough to have a significant impact on campus culture.”

Yale University is effectively a safe space for left-wing thought, including the thought that discrimination against whites, Asians, conservatives AND Christians is somehow OK, so long as the discrimination benefits the right people, namely blacks.

Responding to Yale’s statement, critics were quick to note how the school’s insistence on discriminating against whites and Asians (among others) is a perfect example of what REAL “systemic racism” looks and sounds like.

Observe:

As of Friday morning, Democrats had not yet spoken out about the ruling. However, it was pretty clear which side Democrats like presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, would ultimately choose …
