Another police chief ‘resigns,’ forced out of job for refusing to bow to BLM

A white Georgia police chief has effectively been forced out of his job for the apparent crime of criticizing the authoritarian, illiberal (as in contrary to the tenets of classical liberalism) Black Lives Matter cult and religion.

In an allegedly “controversial” Facebook post published in June, then-Johns Creek Police Chief Chris Byers blamed Minneapolis black man George Floyd’s death on racism, said he supported the oftentimes violent “protests” that erupted after Floyd’s death, and urged readers to “never give up the fight against racism.”

However, Myers, a 23-year part-time pastor, made the apparent mistake of adding that, although he backed the movement for so-called racial justice, he took issue with the Black Lives Matter organization for the hatred it promotes against the police.

“I believe that the lives of every black man, woman, and child matter just as much as the lives of every white man, woman, and child and police officer. … But I do not support the Black Lives Matter as a movement as it seems to glorify the killing of my brothers and sisters,” he wrote, thus essentially signing off on the demise of his career.

The post was addressed to his fellow “religious leaders in our community,” with whom he took issue over their full-fledged embrace of BLM.

“To the religious leaders in our communities. To Pastors, directors of ministries, youth Pastors, worship leaders…To anyone who leads a congregation of faith in any religion or denomination. You have failed us. By us I mean the men and women of the law enforcement communities and our families. Our spouses. Our children. Our loved ones,” he wrote.

“I write this as a Christian, church worker, and a Police Chief that is blessed to serve one of the most courageous, righteous, and self-sacrificing segments of our communities.”

Their error, he argued, was believing BLM’s lies.

“It is not what you pastors and religious leaders think it is. Stop trying to be relevant and look deeper into what you are saying, posting, and tagging before you do it,” he wrote.

He added that, though he supports the general idea that black lives matter, he cannot embrace BLM’s radicalism, nor its anti-Americanism.

“I have also been asked if I will take a knee at these protests. Taking a knee is a sign of surrender. I will not surrender to this fight for justice. I take a knee of surrender to my Lord and Savior alone,” he wrote.

While the post may not seem controversial to some, it reportedly created such a “furor” in Johns Creek that the city’s leaders put on a statement saying they don’t “condone or accept any form of racism, hate brutality, or repression,” and vowed to “conduct a careful review” of Byers’ otherwise completely non-controversial post.

Days later, Byers was placed on administrative leave. And in an update published this Tuesday, the far-left city announced it’d gone ahead and reached some sort of “settlement agreement” with Byers “resulting in his resignation.”

“Based on extensive and careful consideration of everything that has occurred within our city over the past few months, we have come to the conclusion that it is in the city’s best interests to part ways with our Police Chief,” Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker said in a statement.

“Our City Council discussed and voted to approve a settlement agreement with Police Chief Chris Byers. As we move forward, our next step is to begin the search process to fill the Police Chief position with a highly qualified candidate who embodies the heart and soul of our community. The ideal candidate will inspire confidence in the men and women of the Police Department and uphold the respect of our residents.”

Bodker was arrested five months ago on domestic battery allegations.

“Mike Bodker’s estranged wife called 911 Sunday morning and alleged that he grabbed her wrist and ankle during a heated exchange. … Records show Bodker was booked into the Fulton County jail Sunday and bonded out today, Atlanta station WSB reported on March 9th.

Johns Creek City Council has chosen to not given him the same treatment that was afforded to Myers for the crime of criticizing BLM, suggesting that in Johns Creek, brutalizing your wife is OK, but free speech is not.

Myers’ ouster comes as this form of morality policing is growing more commonplace across the country, with the enforcement of law not being dictated anymore by the law itself but rather by the far-left “morality” of political leaders.

For instance, a report emerged Tuesday that Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, the same woman who let Jussie Smollett off the hook, “has dismissed more than 25,000 felony cases – including murder cases- during her tenure from November 2019,” as reported by Chicago station WFLD.

Meanwhile in Portland, Oregon, Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt has indicated that charges will most likely be dropped against the throngs of left-wing extremists who’ve ravaged the city for the past three months.
