President Donald Trump dashed the Oval Office dreams of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016, and while her still-upset supporters like to remind everyone that she won the popular vote, it seems that some people forgot that she even campaigned.
On Saturday, the New York Times Opinion Twitter account published and then deleted a tweet promoting a column from Maureen Dowd that seemed to completely erase the Clinton/Kaine Democrat ticket during the last election.
“It’s hard to fathom, but it has been 36 years since a man and a woman ran together on a Democratic Party ticket, writes [Maureen Dowd.] To use Geraldine Ferraro’s favorite expression, ‘Gimme a break!'”

Almost immediately, the grievous error sent “Kaine,” “Clinton/Kaine,” and even “Palin” trending. The outlet issued a correction, in which they clarified that it has been “36 years since a man chose to put a woman on the Democratic ticket with him.”
Correction: An earlier version of this column incorrectly said it had been 36 years since a man and a woman ran on a Democratic Party ticket. It has been that long since a man chose a woman to run as V.P. on the Democratic ticket. We’ve deleted a tweet that repeated the error.

The piece regarding the political ticket of Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro highlights some of the problems that the pair had navigating the then-new idea of a female VP pick, and was written in anticipation of Joe Biden’s own pick. It reads as somewhat of a cautionary tale, warning the Democrat campaign of some of the challenges they may face in the run-up to November.

After Walter Mondale picked [Geraldine] Ferraro, a Queens congresswoman, the first man and woman to share a ticket had to consider all sorts of things: Could he kiss her on the cheek? (No.) Could he call her “dear” or “honey”? (No.) Could they hug? (No.) Could they tell jokes, as Johnny Carson did, about how angry Joan Mondale would be when her husband kept coming home late and saying he had been in private sessions with the vice president? (No.)
They wanted to be seen as peers, more TV anchor team than suburban couple. Mondale could not seem paternal or patronizing or use phrases like “a ticket with broad appeal.” Ferraro, who walked faster, had to stop bounding ahead of her running mate.
They knew that the way they conducted themselves would forever recast the perception of men and women in politics. So they were wary in the beginning.
It didn’t take long before the story made its way to the virtual doorstep of Hillary Clinton, who accused Dowd of eating a “pot brownie” before typing up her column on the topic. A tweet that would raise eyebrows if it were from anyone else, Clinton’s caustic response earned the praise of Jennifer Rubin, a self-proclaimed “conservative opinion writer.”

The column was roundly slammed by the left, as was the author who never once mentioned Clinton and apparently – according to liberals – had a “role in elevating and giving us four years of … Donald Trump.”

But it would seem that not all liberals are aboard the train to defend Hillary. Those on the far left (arguably the liberals with the most power at the moment) still haven’t forgiven Hillary for losing the election to Trump.
