Gov Whitmer feels backlash for divisive move, creates ‘Black Leadership Council’ to fight racism

In a backfiring bid to fight alleged racism and promote “inclusion,” far-left Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has declared racism a public health crisis, ordered state employees to undergo “implicit bias” training and granted black people — and only black people, despite America containing other minorities — their own state agency.

“Since I was sworn in as governor, I have made it a top priority to include more people of color, more women, and more members of the LGBTQ+ community at the table. We’ve been able to build a more inclusive state government, but there is more work to do,” she said in a statement Wednesday.

That’s why today, I am proud to create the Black Leadership Advisory Council of Michigan. We must confront systemic racism head on so we can create a more equitable and just Michigan. This is not about one party or person. I hope we can continue to work towards building a more inclusive and unbiased state that works for everyone.”

In tweets, she added that this council will consist “of Black leadership in economics, public policy, health, technology, environment, agriculture, arts and culture.”

It’s not clear how prioritizing the interests of one race over all others will “work towards building a more inclusive and unbiased state that works for everyone.”

A press release published by her office seemed to indicate that this bizarre move was inspired by the coronavirus pandemic, which apparently “revealed, confirmed, and highlighted the deadly nature of pre-existing inequities caused by systemic racism.”

As evidence of this “systemic racism,” the press release cited black people again — never mind the Asians, Hispanics, Pacific Islanders and Native Americans who not only also reside in the state, but do so in lower numbers than blacks, making them a bigger minority:

“For example, in cases where race and ethnicity is known, the rate of reported COVID-19 cases for Black/African American Michigan residents is 14,703 per 1,000,000, compared with 4,160 per 1,000,000 for white residents, more than three times higher,” the release read.

“And the rate of reported COVID-19 deaths for Black/African American Michigan residents is 1,624 per 1,000,000 compared with 399 per 1,000,000 for White residents, more than four times higher.”

But disparity doesn’t prove discrimination and racism. There could be other factors at play, including personal decisions — such as, for instance, the personal decision to participate in Black Lives Matter protests like the one seen below:

Note the lack of social distancing and proper mask-wearing.

Whitmer herself has participated in these protests, despite them violating her coronavirus restrictions, which happen to be some of the toughest in the country.

“Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who’s voiced concerns about other demonstrations potentially spreading COVID-19 in recent weeks, participated Thursday in a civil rights march in Highland Park with hundreds of people who did not follow social distancing rules,” The Detroit News reported in June.

By “other demonstrations,” The Detroit News meant anti-lockdown protests, which the governor had no qualms about smearing.

Even as the governor has sought to cater to only one racial group, she’s ruthlessly gone after churches and business owners, leading to accusations that she (and other Democrat governors) have been practicing morality policing.

Morality policing refers to a twisted form of “justice” in which certain activities are allowed but other activities are forbidden based on the “judge’s” ideological views.

And so, as an example, left-wing extremists are allowed to riot, vandalize and harass, but genuinely peaceful lockdown protesters aren’t permitted to demonstrate.

Whitmer’s latest move has also provoked accusations of racism, for the notion of exalting one racial group over all others is itself quite racist.
