With the area outside a federal courthouse in Portland, Ore., looking like a war zone, as radical anarchists and other hard-left revolutionaries do battle on a nightly basis, the Trump administration is not about to back down.

In fact, the effort to protect the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse from being burned to the ground is being intensified, as the administration is sending in additional federal agents, according to the Washington Post.

With Democratic Mayor Ted Wheeler siding with rioters as he all but surrenders the city to them, beginning Thursday night forces around the downtown courthouse will be strengthened, as the U.S. Marshals Service will deploy 100 deputy U.S. Marshals.

And more federal reinforcements may be coming.

“The Department of Homeland Security is also considering a plan to send an additional 50 U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel to the city, but a final decision on the deployment has not been made, according to senior administration officials involved in the federal response who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe internal deliberations,” the Post reported.

As of mid-July, there were reportedly 114 federal agents in Portland. The article said it was unclear if any of these agents would be relieved.

“The agency took steps to identify up to 100 personnel to send to the District of Oregon in case they were needed to relieve or supplement deputies permanently stationed in the district,” Drew Wade, a spokesman for the Marshals Service, said in a written statement. “They may also be used to rotate with personnel already sent there to support district operations during the civil unrest mission to insure the function and safety of judicial proceedings.”

The paper noted that many of the agents previously sent to Portland were members of the Special Operations Group and had some training in handling riots and crowds, but the 100 law enforcement officers now being sent there are being pulled from the ranks of deputy marshals and may not have the same training.

With violent anarchists getting more and more aggressive in their tactics against the agents, conservative journalist Andy Ngo shared a video of a “bomb” being thrown at the courthouse.

“Rioters threw a bomb at the front of the Portland federal courthouse. This wasn’t one of their usual firework explosives,” Ngo tweeted.

Homeland Security officials have said that federal agents have been injured by large commercial-grade fireworks shot at them by the criminal element laying siege to the courthouse, as well as by lasers aimed at their eyes.

The Justice Department shared photos of some of the weapons confiscated from the lawless protesters being propped up by the liberal media. Portland police also shared images of Molotov cocktails and loaded rifle magazines confiscated.

As Ngo noted in another tweet, the chaos in the streets of the Democrat-run city has been going on now for 61 days.

A total of 22 people are facing federal charges in connection to the protests in Portland, Ore., federal officials announced Monday.

U.S. Attorney Billy J. Williams announced Monday that 22 people are facing federal charges for their roles in the rioting outside the courthouse — they were charged with criminal conduct between July 23 and July 27.

Among those arrested was Ronald Bernard Hickey, 44, a Canadian national, for harassing and stalking federal employees assigned to assist the Federal Protective Service with ongoing civil unrest in Portland.
