Wednesday marked The Feast of Mary Magdalene, and just as the left sullies all other things in life, so too did they soil this celebration.

Magdalene was a Jewish woman who, according to the four canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, traveled with Christ as one of his followers and was a witness to his crucifixion and one of the first people to learn of his Resurrection.

She has been cast as a repentant prostitute by some, as the wife of Jesus by others, although biblical scholars argue there is no substantial evidence to support either of these theories.

The Catholic church recognizes Magdalene as the patron saint “of the contemplative life, converts, glove makers, hairdressers, penitent sinners, people ridiculed for their piety, perfumeries, pharmacists, sexual temptation, tanners, women.”

There was some efforts at clarity in recognizing the day:

On the other hand, there were plenty suggesting that Mary is a victim of sexism, and that Jesus was a “feminist and an egalitarian.”

But accusations of sexism were tame compared to how some on the left bastardized the historical figure to suit their agenda: (** Language warning)
