Cops are investigating the Friday night murder of three Florida fishing buddies in what the local sheriff described as a “massacre.”
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd added that “This is a horrific scene. I’ve been to a lot of murder scenes and this ranked among the worst I’ve been to.”
The suspect or suspects are still at large. Detectives have apparently concluded that more than one attacker is involved in the crime.
In seeking assistance from the public, authorities have posted a $,500 reward for any information leading to an arrest.
In the tragic incident that started out as a night-fishing trip for catfish, the unknown assailants reportedly beat and shot the trio of best friends in a remote area in the city of Frostproof within a few minutes of the pals’ arrival at the spot on or near Lake Streety Road off of U.S. Highway 27.
After the attack, one of the victims, Brandon Rollins, 27, reportedly called his father for help on his cell phone.
The dad reportedly found his son clinging to life and the other two friends already dead. In his haste, Rollins’ dad forgot to bring his cell phone, so he headed to a gas station to call 911, and then drove back to the crime scene.
According to WFLA, News Channel 8, the heartbroken elder Rollins said that “When I got there, I was looking for my son. It was a mess. I found my son. I was holding him. He was telling me what happened, but I was too shocked to know what was going on.”

By the time first responders arrived, Rollins had also passed away.
Rollins and his dad had a brief conversation, but Sheriff Judd declined to reveal the content, which is understandable given that the investigation is ongoing by homicide detectives.
Judd characterized the area where the triple murder occurred as “very safe, very quiet, very quaint” and “as far out of the woods as you can get.”
With that in mind perhaps, the sheriff hinted that it is likely that the killers and the suspects knew each other.

Police identified the other two victims as Damion Tillman 23, and Keven Springfield, 30.
Judd ominously asserted that “we deserve to find these people and lock them up before they decide to kill someone else.
“And at this point in time, what do they have to lose, because they’ve already killed three.”
Cops noted that “the three men have been best friends for years and were fishing Friday night (on land, not in a boat).”
Polk County is located in central Florida in the Lakeland-Winter Haven area.
"I want justice for him and I will not stop until he gets it."
