A California leftist who abhors Fox News became the target of mockery and derision Friday after she stated that the top-rated news network only boasts one black employee.
In the words of President Donald Trump, “Wrong!”
The leftist, a woman known as Nicole, posited this wild theory after Fox News’ Brit Hume shared a celebratory tweet in honor of rising FNC star Harris Faulkner.
Look:
Go Harris! https://t.co/E4SY6o1fE1
— Brit Hume (@brithume) July 17, 2020
Way to go FOX. Exploit the only black on air person you employ.
— Nicole (@dreamloverepeat) July 17, 2020
The “only black on air person?” Really?
As pointed out by Hume himself, that’s just plain false:
Who wants to tell this person about Kevin Corke, Juan Williams, Arthel Neville, Lawrence Jones, Richard Fowler, among others. https://t.co/XeS73QLKKu
— Brit Hume (@brithume) July 17, 2020
Plenty of others chimed in as well, though some weren’t as congenial as him.
Look (*Language warning):
Lol. What a dunce 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️

I have to give it to you. You are talented. Very few people can put their foot in their mouth while their head is that far up their butts. Maybe you should try out for America’s Got Talent next year.

Beauty fades but stupid lasts forever.
— John (@JohnLinehan7) July 17, 2020
Are you new, uninformed, or blissfully ignorant? You might want to Google Kevin Corke, Juan Williams, Arthel Neville, Lawrence Jones, Richard Fowler. And, to point out the obvious…@HARRISFAULKNER is one of the best and brightest talents at any news outlet!
— Baxter’s Mom 🐘 (@PollyAnnaAgain) July 17, 2020
She’s one of many black Americans who work on Fox News. Aside from Harris Faulkner there’s Charles Payne, Juan Williams, Arthelle Neville, Kevin Corke, among others. Many more than CNN.

This woman’s mouthing off opinions like she’s an authority on Fox; but exposes the fact that she knows nothing about the news channel or the people who work there. This woman’s blinded by her hubris. Way to go, Nicole! @dreamloverepeat

The Variety magazine article Hume had shared to Twitter talked about how Faulkner will be hosting her own primetime special this upcoming Sunday.
“On Sunday at 10 p.m., she will host a special primetime event that – for the first time in her career at Fox News – leads with her name. ‘Harris Faulkner Presents: The Fight for America’ is supposed to offer a look at civil unrest and race relations in the U.S., and marks the latest in a series of special-format programs she has anchored this year,” the piece read.
You go, girl!
While almost everybody who replied to Hume’s tweet shared his joy, with one writing that Faulkner’s “a gem” (indeed she is), for some inexplicable reason Nicole decided to accuse Fox of exploiting the FNC veteran who’s been with the company for 15 years.
The accusation was a patently racist form of tokenism, i.e., the “practice of making only a perfunctory or symbolic effort to do a particular thing, especially by recruiting a small number of people from underrepresented groups in order to give the appearance of sexual or racial equality within a workforce,” according to Oxford.
It’s a left-wing crafted belief system rooted in the soft bigotry of low expectations. The idea in this case basically is that, as a black woman, Faulkner is too stupid to earn her own special by herself — that she’d only earned it because of her race.
Fact-check: FALSE.
The fact is that Faulkner earned the special because she’s an example of excellence in broadcasting.
Honored to be apart of this much-needed conversation on race in America. So many hurting on all sides and the best thing we can do is listen to each other. Please tune-into @foxnews at 10 PM ET this Sunday, July 19th. @HARRISFAULKNER hosting. You don’t want to miss this. pic.twitter.com/9JIxIb84Eu

“Harris is very important. I think she has a lot of strength and a lot of grace and she knows how to stay steady even through tough breaking news,” Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said to Variety.
She’s so important — and talented — that some believe she ought to serve as a role model to other less-refined journalists.
“Journalism critics are not always generous with Fox News, but one prominent academic recently praised Faulkner’s work. In a piece written for Columbia Journalism Review, Bill Grueskin, a professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism who is a former senior executive at The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg, suggested other reporters could take cues from her approach,” Variety noted.
This is the reality of who Faulkner is, but sadly it’s a reality that’s imperceptible to leftists like Nicole who view the world through the jaded lens of bigotry.
And FYI, there are a LOT of leftists just like her, as Hume found out Friday:
Kevin Corke cover the White House. Arthel Neville is a longtime Fox News anchor. Juan Williams, a co-host of The Five and one of the most visible people on Fox. “Exploited?” Please.
— Brit Hume (@brithume) July 17, 2020
What idiocy. Those people are not unknown to Fox News viewers, of whom you obviously are not one. If you watched, you’d know that Arthel Neville is no “dude.” She’s a longtime Fox News anchor.
— Brit Hume (@brithume) July 17, 2020
To people like them, Faulkner will forever just another black person. But to those who actually know and appreciate Faulkner, she’s one of the best damn journalists on TV.
Dear @dreamloverepeat , you are sick to insult @HARRISFAULKNER this way..I remember when I first met Harris years ago and she is an extremely accomplished journalist and I was proud to be her colleague and you insult her w/ your tweet https://t.co/BSaIkJ1Zo4
— Greta Van Susteren (@greta) July 18, 2020
Who does this? Ugh the world is so upside down. Harris Faulkner is literally one of the best journalists on air anywhere.
— GloriaG (@g_mom1411) July 18, 2020
Personally, after the first time I saw her on Fox, I thought she was an outstanding journalist/host and deserved her own show. Funny, I never considered her skin color, just that she is very professional and easy to listen to. Your comment is unwarranted.
— Art Benson (@ArtBenson) July 17, 2020
By the way, if you have ever stopped and watched her work you will know that she is excellent at her craft and you claiming that she is being exploited is utterly insulting to her and her career.
