U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the San Francisco Democrat, claims that President Trump “crossed a bridge” and had an attitude adjustment about wearing a mask while visiting military veterans at the Walter Reed Medical Center
The visit was the first time the president appeared on camera with a facial covering.
Pelosi’s comments were part of the standard anti-Trump word salad on CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper Sunday.
The president wore a mask while visiting a Ford plant in Michigan in May, but steered clear of the cameras at the time, unlike yesterday’s visit with the nation’s wounded warriors and hospital staff.
Many Trump fans on social media liked what they saw.

Earlier this month, however, Trump said that “I’m all for masks. I think masks are good,” especially in a crowded scenario. He also joked that with a mask, he looked like the Lone Ranger.
Unlike Pelosi, the president does not favor a nationwide mask mandate, however, instead preferring to leave that decision to state and local officials. The CDC recommends facial coverings when social distancing is impractical.
Officials have been all over the place insofar as masks are concerned, however, which hasn’t helped public acceptance or government credibility.
For example, back in March, ubiquitous TV star Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that there was no need for Americans to be walking around with masks,
While bashing Trump in an interview with the ironically named Dana Bash sitting in for Tapper, Pelosi dissed Trump even though he did what she presumably wanted him to do.
“I’m so glad he obeyed the rules of Walter Reed…Now he’s crossed a bridge. That’s an admission that, if you’re gonna see our soldiers, you have to wear a mask.
“If you’re going to be with our children, you have to wear a mask. If we want to stop the spread of the coronavirus, you have to wear a mask. So hopefully, by his example, he will change his attitude, which will be helpful in stopping the spread of the coronavirus.”

Presenting a narrative that was likely provided by her handlers, Pelosi apparently was unaware that before he headed over to Walter Reed, Trump acknowledged that he would probably put on a mask “especially in that particular setting where you’re talking to a lot of soldiers and people that in some cases just got off the operating tables, I think it’s a great thing to wear a mask.”
Some Twitter users were quick to put Pelosi in check for her seemingly snide comments:
Yes got that! There is no law to wear one at this moment in time! To say that the president should be wearing a mask at all times is outrageous when he and all of his individuals are tested on a daily basis! Trump is not a threat to anyone if he is not wearing a mask!

Oh you don’t blame Speaker Pelosi for calling President Trump a racist for shutting the border to Europe and China. She wanted open borders as she walked through Chinatown without a mask telling people go out there is nothing to worth about.

Well… I still blame Trump. He should have closed travel with China… And Europe!
Then he should have told Nancy Pelosi to stay out of China Town and to wear a mask!
Oh… He did. 🤦🏻♂️ pic.twitter.com/GGCksEi9CY

When did Trump ever say masks cant help prevent the spread. When did Trump say dont wear masks.

Pelosi and Politico are idiots. Wearing a mask in Walter Reed isn’t an admission that masks are needed. If masks were needed they’d have been required in March.

So she’s a doctor now…

You can never be happy. You wanted him to wear a mask. Now he has, and you are complaining. Wow.

No it is hospital protocol. Masks don’t do a thing to prevent transmission of disease. That has been shown by numerous studies. Anyone with a modicum of scientific understanding knows that.

This is why I’m pissed. Trump finally wore a mask and Pelosi takes pot shots at him and wants to trigger him not to wear one again. The reason covid is so bad in the US is because since the beginning it was used as a political weapon at the expense of dealing w/the virus.

Nancy a mask can not stop Covid. People are still catching Covid even wearing a cloth masks. It slows it down. Nothing is going to stop it until we have a vaccine.

@SpeakerPelosi
Wasn’t @POTUS visiting a hospital? If yes, it made sense to wear a mask, but not outside in public IMO.— James Beauregard (@JamesBeaurega18) July 12, 2020
#UnMaskAmerica When Pelosi gave a pass to the rioters and looters, she lost the right to boss the rest of us around.

Liberals are now saying I told you so… You see even the president wears a mask now. I’m like I don’t wear a mask in public but in a hospital I think I would.. Different scenario..
