A Florida attorney has sued Gov. Ron DeSantis for prematurely opening beaches amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Daniel Uhlfelder, who dresses as the Grim Reaper to warn beachgoers to stay home, took the legal action claiming “there’s been a lack of leadership” in the state, CNN reported.

Never mind that most Florida beaches are controlled by local officials and DeSantis said in March he would leave it to their discretion on whether to close or not. He did issue an executive order that month shutting down beaches in several South Florida counties that were hardest hit by the coronavirus.
In May, Florida reopened beach areas in state parks that had been previously closed, with some limitations.
DeSantis is a favorite target of the liberal media, which understands how critical the Sunshine State will be in determining who the next president is. And while the media is hyperventilating over an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the Republican governor tweeted Monday: “Florida’s case fatality rate is 1.9%, which is much lower than other large states.”
As for Mr. Grim Reaper, seems the hypocrite is selective in his outrage — imagine that… must be a liberal, right?
Well, judge for yourself as Uhlfelder recently touted his participation in a Black Lives Matter protest.

All of which prompted a tweet from Washington Examiner reporter Jerry Dunleavy, directed at CNN.
Dunleavy tweeted: “Surprisingly, not a single question from CNN to the grim reaper about why he thinks beach-going is horrifically dangerous & even lawsuit-worthy but massive protests (which he himself joined & shared photos of himself at) are not.”

To be clear, Uhlfelder is a committed liberal who is looking to take advantage of the notoriety he’s drawing to himself with an ActBlue fundraising campaign to “help raise funds to distribute equally to Democrats running for federal office.”
Uhlfelder is also pushing for Gov. DeSantis to issue a mandatory state-wide mask order “because masks work.”
DeSantis press secretary Cody McCloud told CNN that the governor is leaving that to the discretion of individual counties.
“Local officials have instituted mask mandates in their respective counties, including Miami Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Orange, Hillsborough and Duval.,” McCloud said. “These are Florida’s largest counties, therefore most of the state’s population is under a mask mandate. Some counties have experienced significant cases of COVID-19 and others relatively few, which is why the input from municipal leaders is important to determine the best course of action for a particular community.”
“A mask mandate may make sense in Miami-Dade County, but not in Florida’s more than 20 rural counties, some with fewer than 50 COVID-positive cases,” she added.
