America was founded on revolution, in support of liberty, and that indelible spirit is ingrained into the fiber of most Americans, who react with defiance when authorities begin dictating what can and cannot be done.
The country saw this with the issue of mandatory face masks during a pandemic that won’t go away, and when it comes to being told that fireworks are banned on the day America celebrates its independence from Britain.
In Southern California, for example, the sky was illuminated with “illegal” fireworks in celebration of the Fourth of July, as actor James Woods was so kind to share with his followers.
Oh, he may have mentioned that Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom was a “Commie.”
Commie Newsom banned ALL gatherings July 4 in California with the sole exception of protests (of course). He further banned fireworks displays. California had some other ideas 💥✨🎉pic.twitter.com/He2bF7MYWH

Gov. Newson — who may not exactly be a “commie,” at least not openly — announced ahead of the holiday weekend a major rollback on restrictions in 19 counties because of a surge in COVID-19 cases, closing restaurants, bars and many other businesses. He said these counties should cancel Fourth of July fireworks shows, and that people should not gather with people they do not live with.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced at a press conference that in addition to the closing of beaches, firework displays would be prohibited, according to Deadline.
“Gatherings of people you do not live with are not allowed,” the mayor would add.

Local news shared a video of the massive display of fireworks Saturday night.
“Although fireworks are illegal in the city of Los Angeles and all firework displays are banned in L.A. County this year, that didn’t stop residents on Saturday night,” ABC & reported.
The affiliate noted that the L.A. Fire Department said it responded to over 100 fires, including 29 structure fires, 12 brush fires and 116 rubbish fires, though it is not clear if fireworks played any role in the fires.
Some on social media say they have never seen such a voluminous display before:

Here’s a sampling of other responses from Twitter:
Fireworks & fireworks shows are banned in Los Angeles County this #July4th. But look at our Burbank camera and our LAX camera looking toward South LA… it’s never-ending. @ABC7 pic.twitter.com/v2t4G0aslS

HOLY COW! Is anyone in Los Angeles seeing how many people are shooting off fireworks??? Hundreds are being launched in all directions. Looking at this video, you’d never know these types of fireworks are completely ILLEGAL in LA County… 😮#HappyFourthOfJuly #FourthofJuly2020 pic.twitter.com/wN7zmRiQI9

Los Angeles is lit up tonight and it’s beautiful. The big city fireworks were cancelled and I’m on a hill watching every community get together in groups of, yes, every race, and just be together in awe. This video can’t capture it. pic.twitter.com/tS8Zr28Ifw

Last night’s view from my hill. The sound goes on all night. I feel bad for the people and animals that suffer because of it. I hope that nobody starts a fire. But I also love the insanity of it. #LosAngeles #LosAngelesfireworks pic.twitter.com/HcqdA21Miz
