Uproar when Newsom declares church parishioners are no longer allowed to sing in 14-page mandate

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Department of Public Health issued a 14-page “guidance” Wednesday containing a comprehensive list of mandates that “houses of worship” in the far-left state must abide by going forward amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Among the mandates is one particularly disturbing requirement that churches “discontinue singing and chanting activities.”

“Even with adherence to physical distancing, convening in a congregational setting of multiple different households to practice a personal faith carries a relatively higher risk for widespread transmission of the COVID-19 virus, and may result in increased rates of infection, hospitalization, and death, especially among more vulnerable populations,” the widely panned guidance reads.

“In particular, activities such as singing and chanting negate the risk reduction achieved through six feet of physical distancing. Places of worship must therefore discontinue singing and chanting activities and limit indoor attendance to 25% of building capacity or a maximum of 100 attendees, whichever is lower.”

View the guidance below:

The guidance was issued on the same day that Newsom held a 50-minute press conference during which he demanded that state residents refrain from celebrating the 4th of July with anyone outside their home.

“I think patriotism, at least in a COVID-19 environment can be expressed a little bit differently with consideration of our independence, again, from COVID-19,” he reportedly said. “That needs to come with conditions and considerations on wearing masks and making sure we’re physically distanced.”

“So I really cannot impress upon you more the tendency to invite friends, neighbors over that you haven’t seen is there. Perhaps you’ve already done that. I hope you’ll reconsider those gatherings with people that you do not live with.”

Yet neither he nor the California Department of Public Health has yet to issue a single guidance pertaining to the “protests” and riots that have been seen all across the state.

One protest occurred the very same day he spoke, leading to exasperation from those bothered by him targeting one group of people but going soft on another:

This exasperation was even more pronounced among religious worshipers.

Like America First PAC spokesperson Steve Cortes noted in a tweet, “The 2020 Dem Party: massive, crowded protests are encouraged – including agitators screaming at police. But, worshipers singing in church is verboten.”

It does indeed appear as if the governor’s rules are unfair and uneven.

Note how one of the Twitter users spoke of Newsom’s winery.

On Wednesday, the governor also ordered the closures of restaurants, wineries, tasting rooms, movie theaters, family entertainment centers, zoos, museums, cardrooms and bars in 19 counties, not including Napa County.

And it just so happens that Napa County houses his own winery and tasting room:

It’s hypocrisy and double standards such as these that have infuriated a growing number of Americans in blue states such as California.

The only potential good news regarding Newsom’s singing guidance is that it “remains to be seen if, or how, the state or counties are expected to enforce the ban on singing in houses of worship,” as reported by The Sacramento Bee.

Of course, knowing the governor, he’ll find a way …
