Not satisfied with toppling the statues of America’s Founding Fathers, some left-wing activists have now set their eyes on replacing America’s national anthem.

In fact, just last week left-wing extremists — or “protesters,” according to the far-left media — toppled the statue of the anthem’s composer, Francis Scott Key:

But this week they’re gunning for the anthem itself (again).

The push appears to have started in New York City, of course, where Urban Assembly School for the Performing Arts junior Liana Morale vowed to not sing the national anthem during the school’s upcoming virtual commencement.

“Ms. Morales, an Afro-Latina, said she was honored to be selected. But after the killing of George Floyd, she refused to sing America’s national anthem. Instead, she asked if she could perform ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing,’ a hymn widely known as the black national anthem,” The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

Two days later, Yahoo News ran a report about two activists — historian Daniel E. Walker and “journalist” Kevin Powell  — who are now calling for the Scott Key’s “The Star-Spangled Banner” to be outright replaced.

“The 53-year-old in me says, we can’t change things that have existed forever,” Walker said to Yahoo News. “But then there are these young people who say that America needs to live up to its real creed.”

Young people say a lot of things, many of them patently dumb

“The Star-Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key, who was literally born into a wealthy, slave-holding family in Maryland,” Powell added.

“He was a very well-to-do lawyer in Washington, D.C., and eventually became very close to President Andrew Jackson, who was the Donald Trump of his time, which means that there was a lot of hate and violence and division.”

In other words, #OrangeManBad. It’s unclear why virtually every left-wing plot invariably traces back to President Donald Trump.

According to Powell, the best replacement for the anthem would be John Lennon’s “Imagine,” a song that Lennon himself once admitted was basically a lyrical rehash of the Communist Manifesto, though Powell nevertheless views it as “the most beautiful, unifying, all-people, all-backgrounds-together kind of song you could have.”

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro sharply disagrees …

Walker meanwhile appears to believe that “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” a song that’s solely about black people, would be a better choice. And he seems pleased that the song is gaining traction with indoctrinated youths like Morales.

“I do like that there’s more attention to the fact that there is a thing called ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing,’ that people are rediscovering it kind of like with Juneteenth,” he said. “I guarantee you, we had way more people celebrating Juneteenth this past week, knowing what it was, than we’d ever had in American history.”

But while these sorts of views are clearly shared by young people like Morales and so-called “experts” like Walker and Powell — they’re not necessarily shared by the public at large.

Case in point (*Language warning):

Unfortunately, this brewing anger may not be enough to stop the madness.

On Wednesday, Tulsa Athletic — a semi-pro soccer team based in Tulsa, Oklahoma — announced that it’d be replacing the national anthem at all home matches.

The only potentially good news was that the team chose to replace it with Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land” (versus a rendition of the Communist Manifesto).

Look:

“Tulsa Athletic is looking forward to kicking-off this new tradition with a special Equality Cup against Minneapolis City at Veterans Park in Tulsa,” the team said in a statement loaded with left-wing terminology.

“To celebrate the unique diversity and talent in this country, Tulsa Athletic welcomes the community to share suggestions for artists to sing ‘This Land Is Your Land’ at one of the six home matches in the upcoming season.”

There goes the country …
