Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has reportedly been dealing with his ongoing divorce from actress and fashion designer Kristin Cavallari by hunting for serial killers. Chicken serial killers, that is.

In an Instagram Story posted that went viral Wednesday afternoon and into Thursday, he informed viewers that there’s a “chicken serial killer on the loose.”

Watch:

“Okay here’s the deal … we’ve got a chicken serial killer on the loose,” he said. “We’ve lost quite a few. Tonight, we’re gonna set up a trail camera, see if it’s a coyote, a bobcat, I don’t know, a raccoon. Could be anything. Not sure, but enough’s enough.”

“These ladies are a little edgy right now, so we’ve got to figure this out. There is one other possibility. It could be an inside job. Thelma over there — well, she looks nice and sweet — is a savage with loose morals. Thelma. Hey cat! Kitty cat! I hope you don’t show up on camera tonight!”

As of Thursday morning, the perpetrator had not yet been found because no pictures had turned up from the night before.

But on the bright side, one of Cutler’s friends had dropped off more chickens:

These quirky Instagram Stories comes amid a heated divorce between him and Cavallari.

“Jay and Kristin initially said they made a ‘loving conclusion’ to split and have ‘nothing but love and respect’ for each other, but the past few days have been full of cheating rumors, allegations of ‘inappropriate marital conduct,’ custody battles (they have three kids!), and the world’s most tense living situation,” Cosmopolitan reported in mid-May.

The proceedings began when Cutler quietly filed divorce papers on April 21st. Three days later, Cavallari filed her own papers but reportedly listed their date of separation as April 7th.

Two days later on April 26th, the couple publicly announced their upcoming divorce with a congenial Instagram post.

“With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce,” they wrote. “We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.”

Look:

But less than 24 hours later, the real truth began to emerge courtesy Entertainment Tonight, which had obtained a copy of Cavallari’s legal filings.

“Cavallari claims in her legal docs (filed on April 24 in Tennessee) that Cutler ‘is guilty of such inappropriate marital conduct as renders further cohabitation unsafe and improper,’ adding that ‘any misconduct alleged or implied against her in the complaint for divorce was in response to and/or as a result of misconduct on behalf of the Husband,'” the outlet reported.

Oh wow.

“As for their kids — Camden, 7, Jaxon, 5, and Saylor, 4 — Cavallari is asking for primary physical custody and seeking child support. She’s requesting that Cutler be allowed visitation, and that the former NFL star pays for their children’s health insurance and maintains a life insurance policy with her name listed as the sole beneficiary,” the report continued.

“Cutler is requesting joint custody of their children and equitable distribution of the marital assets, stating that he has always been ‘the available at home parent and primary caretaker of the parties’ minor children.'”

And just like that, their portrayal of a congenial divorce was busted.

A couple of days later, the story grew even more bizarre as E! News obtained confirmation that, despite their ongoing proceeds, Cutler and Cavallari were still sort of living together.

“Things are very tense between Jay and Kristin right now,” an insider source told the outlet. “They are on opposite sides of the house and only communicate in regards to the children’s needs. They have barely spoken since the Bahamas trip. It’s really a power struggle between the two of them.”

Another source added that Cavallari had been “blindsided” by Cutler’s “urgent” divorce filing, adding, “She had hoped they could work things out more amicably and they were off to a good start before Jay pulled the trigger.”

Then came April 30th, when Cavallari submitted new court documents accusing Cutler of preventing her from buying a house and arguing with her in front of their kids.

A day later, U.S. Weekly reported that the two had finally worked out their living situation: “Kristin stays at the house three days, then Jay stays at the house for three days. They are three days in the house on, three days off. Then she goes to a friend’s or he goes to the Bancroft house.”

Weeks later, Cutler is now hunting chicken serial killers with viral videos.
