Police officers in Atlanta began calling out in mass last week after District Attorney Howard announced charges had been filed against two fellow officers involved in the Rayshard Brooks shooting.
This coming as Democrats across the country call for not only defunding police, but for disbanding departments altogether — the Minneapolis city council already voted to do just that.
Atlanta got an early taste of what life will be like without those tasked with ensuring law and order. As seen in a video shared by actor James Woods, the criminal element owned the night.
The video captured a gun fight breaking out in the streets. Dozens of shots ring out, as armed men boldly walk down the street openly carrying weapons, much like you might expect in some Wild West movie.
Appropriately, Woods added this hashtag: #VoteDemocratForMoreOfThis.

A longer clip leading up to the shoot out is seen below, with cars doing burnouts in the street and a parking lot of a convenience store, amid a party-like atmosphere.
There was reportedly a second shooting at the same location the following night, during a vigil held for Brooks.

According to Town Hall’s Julio Ross, a man was attacked for possibly recording in the area where the gunfire occurred.

Wednesday was the first night cops began not showing up for work, and while that got sufficient media coverage, there was little reporting that this would continue for a number of days.
And while the Atlanta Police Department tried to downplay what was happening, WXIA-TV reported that 25 police officers called in sick on Friday in Zone 5, which is every cop scheduled to work, other than three supervisors.
The NBC affiliate said sources told them that homicide detectives were responding to 911 calls.
Atlanta Interim Police Chief Rodney Bryant said Friday during a virtual city council meeting that the sickouts have not put the city at risk, and insisted that the APD does not need outside assistance for their 911 response, according to WXIA-TV.
At the same time, he reportedly appealed to his officers in an email last week, saying he understands their anger and frustration while trying to reassure officers that they are supported.
“I’m not here to try to convince you that your anger and fear are not real,” Chief Bryant wrote. “What I am here to tell is that that we — all of us who wear a badge — are in this together and we support you.”
Meanwhile, chaos reigns in the streets.

“I’ve never seen the morale so bad that it pushes the majority of an agency to do this,” said Vince Champion, the regional director of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers.
“They want to do their job,” the union leader added. “They just don’t want to do it in the City of Atlanta where they’re not respected and where they’ll be betrayed.”
In a feeble attempt to boost moral, the Atlanta Police Foundation, a public-private partnership aimed at supporting the city’s mayor, police chief and police department, announced Thursday it was giving every officer a $500 bonus.
“In an effort to stem attrition and boost morale, we issued a $500 bonus to each Atlanta Police Department officer today,” the APF said in a statement, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.
When police are on the streets and responding to calls in minority communities, white officers are being told, “Get the f*ck out of here.”
As seen in the video below, someone in the crowd yells, “No White cops”, as black officers appear to urge the white officer to leave.
“Get your white face out of here,” a man is heard saying as the officer returns to his cruiser.
