‘Old white guys need to shut up’: Likable actor Kevin Bacon buys into left’s racially divisive message

Millennials have not given America much reason to think they have any answers to country’s problems — a decent argument could be made that the current generation of entitled naysayers are the problem — but there’s a growing thought on the left that old white men have had a say for long enough.

Fortunately, for now, it is only being suggested that old white men shut up, and you can now count actor Kevin Bacon among those doing the suggesting.

Of course, when it comes to progressives everything is about the messaging, though they tend to project the opposite of what they are pursuing. In this case, shutting up is sold under the banner of listening.

In a virtual appearance on “The Tonight Show,” Bacon spoke about the racial tension that has gripped the country following the death George Floyd.

“It’s incredible to experience this and to go through this historically, not just the COVID-19, but clearly seeing the protests and what’s going on,” the 61-year-old actor told host Jimmy Fallon. “For an old guy like me, I was born in 1958, and to witness the passion of the young people across the world for social justice – it leaves me speechless, which is probably a good idea because I think it’s a good time for old white guys like me to just shut up and listen.”

The remark is certain to give Bacon a stamp of approval on his “woke” card, keeping the rage mob and the cancel culture they bring with them at bay, but it does not offer much in the terms of real advice to help the U.S. navigate today’s choppy waters.

The Democratic Party’s embrace of identity politics has succeeded in breaking us down along the lines of what divides us, instead of what unites us, and Bacon has apparently bought in here.

“I’ve been taking this time to first admit that I don’t have a full understanding of the life experience of people that are different than me,” he said. “And I will never have a full understanding of that.”

He is also a believer in alleged “white privilege.”

“This has been a perfect example of a good time for me to stop and learn and listen and read,” Bacon said. “And just try to gain some kind of deeper understanding about people who — here’s the thing, I’ll never understand it ’cause when I walk out of the house, I’m white.”

“And to not have that experience and privilege is something that I want to just kind of educate myself on,” he added.

The media has established as fact the narrative that racially-driven police brutality and inequality are rampant in America, even though this theory is not supported by recent statistics.

More than 10 million arrests took place in the U.S. in 2019 alone, and there has been but a handful of controversies emerging from them.

As for the virus imported from Wuhan, China, Bacon talked about spending time in quarantine with his lovely wife, Kyra Sedgwick — some guys have all the luck.

“We have a really small bubble, it’s really just me and her and the dog right now,” the likable actor shared. “We’re waking up with a lot of gratitude that we have a house, a roof over our head and food to eat and that we have each other.”

While that remark makes it sound like they’re just scrapping by, the Hollywood couple has an estimated net worth of $45 million.
