If America’s mainstream media (MSM) was really interested in truth, why haven’t they reported on how many of the upsurging Chinavirus cases are people who participated in protests, marches, and mass gatherings recently?
I would wait for an answer, but there won’t be one.
Rather, the MSM prefers to fabricate, by blaming the reopenings and economic re-birthing activity in the states for the recent increase in virus cases. They do this because it fits the MSM narrative that capitalism and profits shouldn’t trump people’s lives, and the MSM insistence that protesters are near-saints, courageous citizens righting some wrongs.
The MSM is quite effective at playing down any news that threatens their leftist worldview and their pro-protester narrative. The media paints protesters as either legitimate criticizers or party-goers having fun in the streets, celebrating “the summer of Love”. And it’s off-limits for MSM to paint the Seattle and Minneapolis City Clowncils as incompetent and endangering their citizens.
The journalism culture is just as fascist as the destructive street people they cover. Fascists suppress their opponents, using force and extreme regimentation, practices often forgiven by journalists. Journalists, just like fascists, are skilled in the use of propaganda, and many in the media seek to control intellectual thought. The Philadelphia Inquirer and NY Times recently forced liberal senior editors out, a purge, because they allowed conservative voices on their editorial pages. Many journalists play down violent protests because they view violence as a means to an end. In fact, leftist mainstream media, who feel so superior to people on the right, are much more fascist, in many ways, than extreme protesters of any stripe. Remember CNN anchor Chris Cuomo’s quote that “protesters” don’t have to be “peaceful”?
Protests and protesters are almost always negative. Rarely positive. Often railing about some perceived injustice, or law they don’t like. Most protesters are “no” people who want to reject something, whether it’s rational or not. Too often, they’re emotional, angry, not thinking clearly, mob-minded. They don’t care if they throw out the proverbial baby with the bath water.
Protests attract not only some well-meaning people, but ne’er-do-wells, haters, recalcitrants, anarchists and malcontents. Usually, protesters are unhappy, discontented people who have been unsuccessful in dealing with life. Remember what the philosopher Confucius had to say: He asked, “Who is the happy person?” And the answer was, “He who is content with what he has.”
Of course, the media loves protesters, giving them the voice they desperately seek, whether legitimate or illegitimate, as the MSM caters to the whims and prejudices of the loudmouths and sign-bearers. Coverage of wild-eyed screaming and sign-waving, blocking roadways and entrances, this sells newspapers and attracts TV eyeballs. The MSM brings credibility to protesting when none is deserved. The more obscenities the better, and the more windows being shattered, it’s all juicy coverage, and you can hear the advertising cash register ringing. The MSM profits from bringing out the morbid side of human nature.
All this makes the MSM complicit in the destruction of property, the flow of blood from smashed heads, and the end of law and orderliness. The media allows unthinking kids to see the masked protesters tossing rocks at advancing police, and to think, “How cool. If I joined them I could look cool, too”. More and more troublemakers, anarchists, psychopaths, dissidents and attention-seekers decide to “join in the fun”. Little concern is expressed in the MSM videos about the pain of getting hit by a brick, or the horror of someone’s car or small business going up in flames.
Most protests would go nowhere if they couldn’t count on media coverage. That makes the media culpable in part for any destruction that ensues. The MSM, meaning to or not, promotes the ongoing destruction by showing anti-authoritarian behavior, and often glorifying it. Things are made worse when there is a 24/7 menu of endless shots of protests and civil disobedience.
