Social distancing was absent from the menu at a New York City bagel shop when one customer appeared to deliberately cough on another consumer who had complained to management that the woman wasn’t wearing a mask.

TMZ, which seems to be everywhere, obtained the entire unappetizing scenario on video.

“You can see for yourself what exactly she does and how she starts to conduct herself — but here’s a hint … it’s a lot of childish name-calling and then straight up flagrant coughing,” TMZ explained. To be fair, the initial “polite” start of the encounter was not recorded.

The incident allegedly occurred at the New York City Bagel Coffee House in Astoria, Queens.

The customer who complained gave her side of the story on Facebook:

“I was …getting my bagel and noticed a patron…who was coughing, not covering her mouth, and not wearing a mask. I politely pointed this out to the woman working at the store and told her that the store should enforce masks to worn by patrons while inside the store.

“The unmasked patron overheard my complaint and became enraged yelling at me calling me names claiming she has COVID antibodies and doesn’t need to wear a mask in public so I should mind my own F’ing business. She then proceeded to come towards me and repeatedly cough on me as seen in this video.”

She added that “since we are in a pandemic, this is by law considered #assault.”

The writer added that Astoria residents should steer clear of the maskless bagel shopper.

Although “Karens” are usually those who are pro-mask and are seldom shy about letting everyone else know about the expectations for COVID-related compliance, social media dubbed the throat-clearer as #coughingKaren and rushed to try to identify/doxx her.

The woman’s alleged former employer, ironically perhaps a medical college according to the Daily Mail, subsequently released a statement on Twitter about the incident.

Last month, however, a woman claimed discrimination when she was denied entry to an Orange County, Calif. supermarket unless she donned a mask. The feelings of conservative activist Candace Owens about masks are also well known.

Writing in Technocracy News, retired neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock claims that based on the available literature, there is no connection between wearing a mask and protecting oneself from becoming infected with influenza. Masks by themselves could also create potential health risks, he additionally claimed.
