In remarkable CYA address, ‘angry’ Seattle police chief blames city officials who ‘relented’ to the mob

It’s hard to imagine a tougher job than being a member of law enforcement in post-Obama America.

With anarchists and radical left revolutionaries controlling the streets of Seattle, and the Democratic mayor and governor casually brushing off what proves to be a major embarrassment to the world, the city’s police chief is defending her department from the ensuing humiliation.

The Seattle Police Department abandoned the East Police Precinct, which is now part of what the armed thugs in the street are calling the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.”

Watch:

Speaking to her department in a video message that comes across as more of a CYA measure to protect her job, Chief Carmen Best let it be known it was not her decision to cede the precinct headquarters.

“Leaving the precinct was not my decision,” she said in the video.

“You fought for days to protect [the precinct],” the police chief continued. “I asked you to stand on that line. Day in and day out, to be pelted with projectiles, to be screamed at, threatened and in some cases hurt.”

Putting the onus on city officials, she said they “relented” to the mob.

“Then to have a change of course nearly two weeks in, it seems like an insult to you and our community,” Best said. “Ultimately the city had other plans for the building and relented to severe public pressure.”

She also let it be known that she was “angry about how this all came about.”

As for what ensued, Best said they had intelligence on what to expect.

“We had solid information to believe anti-government groups would destroy the precinct when we left, whether it be vandalism or arson,” she said, adding that the precinct is currently still standing.

The radicals have since occupied a six-block perimeter around the deserted precinct, calling it “CHAZ” — which stands for the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.”

“We have heard there are armed people ‘patrolling’ the streets near 12th and Pine,” Best said. “Of course, this is very concerning, especially because we don’t know who these people are. We’ve also received reports these armed people may be demanding payment from business owners in exchange for some of that protection. We’ve also heard they may be demanding to see identification from people who live in the area.”

Almost comically, the police chief proclaimed that shaking down businesses and terrorizing citizens “is not legal,” seemingly ignoring the fact that armed thugs have cordoned off an entire section of the city and hold ground amid police inaction.

“We ask anyone who may have experienced this to come forward and file a police report,” she said.

It’s not clear how police will conduct an investigation, given the radicals in the street are not allowing them access to the “autonomous zone.”

In the face of an unwillingness to step in and restore order, President Trump warned the Democratic leaders to “take back your city NOW,” or he will.

In a stunning response, Gov. Jay Inslee referred to the occupation of Seattle by armed thugs as a “largely peaceful” protest. He also said the city was more threatened by the White House than the domestic terrorists who commandeered its streets.

“What we will not allow are threats of military violence against Washingtonians coming from the White House,” he tweeted.

As for Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, well, suffice it to say that she’s in way over her head, although her response explains why radicals in her city are so emboldened.

In her view, the armed revolutionaries are just exercising “self expression.”

Coming full circle, with this embarrassing scenario dominating headlines, the real question is how much more does it take for the American people to realize that there are consequences to elections.

And that electing progressive Democrats into positions of leadership is tantamount to giving a green light to destroying their country.
