A few short hours after President Donald Trump signed an executive order that paved the way for social media networks to be regulated, Twitter proved itself worthy of regulation by purposefully censoring one of the president’s tweets.
Responding to the increasingly violent rioting in Minneapolis (and elsewhere), the president slammed the “thugs” who’re destroying their own community and warned that he was ready to move in the military to take them down — violently too, if necessary.
“I can’t stand back & watch this happen to a great American City, Minneapolis,” he wrote in one of two tweets. “A total lack of leadership. Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard & get the job done right.”
“These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!”

Notice anything missing?
While still available for viewing, the second tweet has been overlaid with a warning accusing the tweet of “glorifying violence.”
Never mind that the president of the United States has the legal authority to intervene when dangerous rioters burn down their own community.
Never mind as well that the tweets below from an Indiana Democrat congressional candidate remain completely uncensored, despite them glorifying the death of the lockdown protesters who’d demonstrated last month to beg for their right to return to work and earn a living, lest they fall into unforgiving debt and bankruptcy.
I believe we are near the point where the #COVIDIOTS‘ insistence that we reopen the economy, despite the clear fact it is not safe to do so, will ultimately make the #COVIDー19 outbreak 10x worse than it should have been.

May it disproportionately kill many MAGAts, so that we never be placed in this sort of predicament again.

Meanwhile, some of the same high-profile left-wingers who’d demonized the protesters for demonstrating peacefully for their right to work have been quick to defend the rioting in Minneapolis and even quicker to slam the president for his justified interest in quelling the mayhem. And leading them has of course been someone from CNN.

“When the looting starts, the shooting starts.”
Instead of deescalating the #MinneapolisRiot, Trump literally grabs a can of gasoline.
In case anyone needed confirmation that he is cold blooded & unfit for office, here it is. https://t.co/H43KJHSrbd

An appalling, inhumane statement by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, at nearly 1am.
[Also, the Minnesota National Guard already announced it activated 500 soldiers, so, he’s uninformed in addition to everything else.] pic.twitter.com/vf8p0Wq6mt

It’s not clear why these sorts of people invariably side with the bad guys, be it the authoritarian politicians who’ve imposed oppressive lockdown rules on their constituents, or be it the thugs who’ve burned down businesses, attacked bystanders and reportedly ripped homes away from 189 families.
“[An] under-construction affordable housing development that burned in the widespread violence in south Minneapolis late Wednesday and early Thursday was to be a six-story rental building with 189 apartments for low-income renters, including more than three dozen for very low-income tenants,” the Star Tribune reported.
Of course, this story hasn’t been picked up by the national media, likely because it belies the notion that the rioters and looters are somehow the good guys.
Twitter’s censoring of the president’s tweet comes amid what appears to be a concerted effort by the social media network to regulate the president’s speech, even as it does nothing to regulate the propaganda of the Communist Party of China.
“And while Big Tech is quick to censor the president, quick to censor some of his top employees, they’re very reluctant, it seems, to label some of the actions by Chinese officials, some of the misinformation that has been spread by China,” White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said during a briefing Wednesday.
