White House coronavirus task force member Dr. Deborah Birx was forced on Sunday to explain to Fox News host Chris Wallace that she isn’t President Donald Trump’s mommy and therefore doesn’t spend her every waking moment with him.
The explanation was offered after Wallace, the host of FNC’s “Fox News Sunday,” pressed the doctor about the president not wearing a mask at all times.
“Do you wish — I understand it’s a special case, everybody around him has been tested and obviously he’s on television — but both from a safety point of view and from a public messaging point of view, do you wish the president wore a mask in public?” he asked.
It was a strange question given that, as he himself admitted upfront, it’s not necessary for the president to wear a mask at all times because of the White House’s stringent coronavirus security measures.

“Well, the president did wear a mask while he was less than six feet in an occasion where that was important when he was traveling last week,” she initially said.

“I’m not with him every day and every moment, so I don’t know if he can maintain social distance,” the doctor added.
“I’ve asked everybody independently to really make sure you’re wearing a mask if you can’t maintain the six feet. I’m assuming that in a majority of cases, he’s able to maintain that six feet distance.”
In other words, the president is a grown man, and Birx trusts his judgment.
Her remarks come amid attempts by the media to run nonstop alarmist stories about unmasked Americans, including the president, enjoying their lives at beaches and other venues like normal human beings.
They’ve been especially critical of the president for daring to enjoy the holiday by playing golf without a mask.

Omg! Impeach him for not wearing a Mask Outdoors on a Golf Course. There’s a much better chance of him getting Lymes Disease from a Tick Bite out there, than getting Covid-19.

Birx initially addressed the matter during a White House briefing Friday, telling the press that enjoying activities without a mask is OK so long as proper social distancing is maintained.
“You can go out. You can be outside. You can play golf. You can play tennis with marked balls. You can go to the beaches if you stay six feet apart. But remember that that is your space, and that’s a space that you need to protect and ensure that you’re social distanced for others,” she said.
By others, she meant groups of people. It’s OK for members of a small family or group to not socially distance among themselves.

Speaking with Wallace on Sunday, she spoke about the matter a bit more.
“I’m very concerned when people go out and don’t maintain social distancing. We now have excellent scientific evidence of how far droplets go when we speak or just simply talking to one another,” she said.
“We know it’s important for people to socially interact, but we also know it’s very important for people to have masks on when they speak … we have to maintain that six-feet difference. We know being outside does help, but that doesn’t change the fact that people need to be responsible and maintain that distance.”
“What we have said to people is there’s clear scientific evidence now… that a mask does prevent droplets from reaching others, and out of respect for each other, as Americans that care for each other, we need to be wearing masks in public when we cannot social distance. It’s really critically important, we have the scientific evidence of how important it is.”
