House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she’s “satisfied” that former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democrats’ presumptive 2020 presidential nominee, is not guilty of sexual abuse allegations against him and that she is “proud” to endorse him.

The California Democrat’s comments regarding accusations from Tara Reade, a former staffer for the-Sen. Biden who said he sexually assaulted her in 1993, are 180 degrees from those she made early on about allegations involving Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

In an interview Thursday on CNN’s “New Day With Alisyn Camerota and John Berman,” Pelosi gave Biden glowing praise and said that he’s “addressed” the allegations against him when really, it’s only been his campaign that has issued statements denying the allegations.

“I have great sympathy for any women who bring forth an allegation, I’m a big, strong supporter of the #MeToo movement,” she said. “I think it’s been a great contribution to our country.

However, “I do support Joe Biden,” she continued. “I’m satisfied with how he has responded. I know him, I was proud to endorse him. And so I’m satisfied with that.”

To her credit, Camerota noted the fact that Biden himself hasn’t issued a statement regarding Reade’s allegations. “To be clear, he hasn’t addressed it,” Camerota said acknowledging that his campaign has made statements.

“Should he directly, publicly address it?” Camerota asked.

“It’s a matter that he has to deal with, but I am impressed with people who worked with him at the time saying they absolutely never heard one iota of information about” Reade’s charges, Pelosi hedged.

“Nobody ever brought forth a claim or had anybody else tell them about such a claim,” she stammered, before noting that, in essence, the allegations don’t really matter to her.

“We have an important election” coming up, said Pelosi. “I supported [Biden] as a person of great values, integrity, authenticity, imagination, and a connection to the American people.”

This glowing review of Biden without any serious addressing of the allegations against him — which, according to Reade, were made formal in a complaint she says she filed with the Senate personnel office after the alleged incident — is completely at odds with her statements regarding unproven sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh.

“I applaud the courage of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford to come forward to share her story,” Pelosi said in a Sept. 17, 2018 statement regarding Kavanaugh’s primary accuser.

“As we continue to learn more about these allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, we must ensure that Dr. Ford’s rights to justice and privacy are respected. Survivors should be supported when they come forward without the fear of threats or further trauma,” she continued.

“It took great courage for Dr. Christine Blasey Ford to come forward with her story,” Pelosi tweeted Sept. 18, 2018. “The American people are owed a thorough investigation of the grave & credible allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.”

On Sept. 26, 2018, she tweeted, “We must #BelieveSurvivors. I’m proud to stand with my Democratic colleagues in support of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.”

“This morning, I took time to watch Christine Blasey Ford’s deeply moving opening statement. Thank you for your bravery, Dr. Ford,” Pelosi tweeted on Sept. 27, 2018, featuring a photo of her watching Ford’s testimony.

It should be noted that there were no complaints or allegations of sexual assault or sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh prior to his Supreme Court nomination. And no such allegations came up during the half-dozen background checks performed on him by the FBI for various government positions he filled prior to being named to the high court, including a position within the George W. Bush administration and his vetting as a federal judge.

He also sailed through an additional FBI probe during his nomination process.

Moreover, Blasey Ford’s story did not hold up to scrutiny, and the other ‘witnesses’ including Julie Swetnick outright lied about Kavanaugh, prompting Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) to make criminal referrals to the Justice Department.

Finally, five people have now corroborated Reade’s story of being “penetrated” by Biden near the U.S. Capitol Building against her will.

But for Pelosi the partisan Democrat, Biden’s word is gold, and Reade’s allegations are simply ‘not credible.’
