MSNBC’s Maddow unloads on conservative media for reporting on the re-opening of US economy

The more CNN and MSNBC — or MSDNC, as President Trump likes to refer to the network — advocate for the Democratic Party, the more their on-air personalities like to project their efforts at propagandizing on conservative media for offering the other side of the story, which some like to refer to as the truth.

A recent example of this was seen Monday evening from MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, who launched into a long monologue about how the conservative media chooses to exist in a world outside the liberal bubble elitists like herself reside in.

Her greater agenda, of course, was to push back on the growing call throughout the country to reopen the U.S. economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic — there’s a belief by many that Democrats would like to keep the country shut down as long as possible in the hope that a tanking economy will hurt Trump’s reelection effort.

Maddow essentially questioned the “legit, professional” qualities of the conservative media for not going all-in on the “Orange man bad” narrative.

“They were people who were coming at the news from a very pronounced right-wing view, perhaps a very partisan, pro-Republican Party view, but at least we were all doing the same kind of work, at least we were all covering the same stuff,” Maddow claimed.

“But over this past decade or so, steadily, that has decreased,” she continued. “Year after year. To the point where now, even in times like this weird, conservative media is like Earth 2. Like all the rest of us are on Earth 1 and they are on a completely different planet in terms of what the news is and what it means to cover it.”

The MSNBC host acknowledged that the conservative media is as influential as ever, if not more so, on the right.

“But the conservative media, the most influential parts of it, really are living in and describing and now promoting a completely different world than the one that all the rest of us live on here on Earth 1,” she charged.

After establishing that this analysis “predates” the current crisis, Maddow then applies it to current events.

“For example, you can see it in how the conservative media has been really, really excited about Sweden,” she noted. “It’s not really their kind of thing, Sweden. But in this case, the coronavirus, they’re all about Sweden.”

She gives examples of reporting to support her stance, as she claimed The Blaze is “still hyping Sweden and how Sweden’s response has been the best in the world and that should be the one that America emulates.”

Maddow said Fox News and other conservative media are “hyping” Sweden because the country “didn’t do a stay-at-home approach. They didn’t close themselves down.”

“Which sounds awesome, right? The Swedes have found the coolest possible way to deal with coronavirus,” she said. “What they have decided to do is not do anything and it must be working great.”

As expected, Maddow produced a carefully constructed graph that vaguely reflects the number of deaths in Sweden, compared to other Scandinavian countries, a graph that offers no context toward the larger picture — such as New York matched the countries total COVID-19 deaths in about two days.

With no regard to the suffering of American families who have had paychecks taken away and been forced to depend on government handouts to survive, the hard-left MSNBC host gets down to the intended purpose of her long rant — to denounce the reopening of the U.S. economy.

“It turns out the virus doesn’t care how cool that sounds,” Maddow said of reopening the country. “Our friends in conservative media are nevertheless in love with the idea that this is no big deal, that you can definitely reopen everything as soon as you don’t feel like dealing with all of this stuff anymore.”

“And so, with the helter-skelter encouragement of President Trump, we’ve now got red state governors all over our country, saying: ‘You know what? Screw it, let’s tear the lid off. The Swedes did it. It was great!’ I keep hearing in conservative media how everyone has been overreacting and do we really need to do anything, so that’s the way we should be governing here.'”
