Brian Stelter, in his proud, properly CNN-styled manhood, displayed no shame in confessing to the world that he “crawled in bed and cried … Tears that had been waiting a month to escape,” over the coronavirus pandemic.

The fake-news anchor made the announcement on Twitter in an explanation as to why he missed the deadline for his weekly newsletter, though probably no one had noticed.

Not only was the flood of tears therapeutic, but the admission of his frailty and sadness on Twitter and in his “Reliable Sources” newsletter was “freeing” for Stelter.

“Truth is, I hit a wall,” he tweeted. “Gutted by the death toll. Disturbed by the government’s shortcomings. Dismayed by political rhetoric that bears no resemblance to reality,” Stelter tweeted and wrote in his weekly newsletter. “Worried about friends who are losing their jobs and kids who are missing school and senior citizens who are living in fear.”

“I crawled in bed and cried for our pre-pandemic lives. I think those tears had been waiting a month to escape.”

“I wanted to share this with you because it feels freeing to do so,” he added. “Now is not a time for faux-invincibility. Journalists are living this and hating this just like everyone else.”

So the takeaway for those who may look up to the liberal CNN media heroes–this is not the time for strength and perseverance, but time to grab your binky, bury yourself in a blanket and cry your heart out. Then everything will be better.

Inspirational.

Shockingly (or not), social media advice of all persuasions was quickly offered up to the emotionally wounded newsman. Among more than 6000 concerned twitter rapid responders, Conservative stalwart James Woods cautioned: “It’s bad luck to put a hat on a bed. Make sure you remove your pink ‘pussy hat’ next time to curl up for a good cry.”

In the vein of suggesting Stelter try to redirect his energies, another helpful commenter posted:

Reassurances from the CNN faithful were heartfelt, if not plentiful …

And then there was the encouragement from “family” …

For better or worse, Stelter is expected to recover and get back to work sooner than later.
