If there is one thing all Americans can rally around in the face of an unprecedented national emergency, surely it would be the children.
Then again, when it comes to the hatred some have for President Donald Trump, the idea of coming together for young Americans will have to wait.
With so much emphasis on tracking how many people have the Wuhan virus COVID-19, and how many are dying, First Lady Melania Trump shared a message reassuring all children that we will get through these difficult times. Children who see firsthand the stress their parents are going through and the impact this is having on their home life.
“To the children of America, in these difficult times, I encourage you to try and make the best of your day,” she said in a tweet. “Together with kindness and care, we will get through this temporary but tough time.

The first lady is the mother of a 14-year-old son, Barron, not that the media spends much effort reminding the nation of this. Melania Trump is also the epitome of grace and class, which may explain why there’s little notice of her — unless it’s to criticize her.
A reporter asked President Trump last week during a White House briefing how his son was holding up, and the president let it be known that Barron wasn’t as happy as he could be, given the total shutdown.
“He loves soccer and he’s like everyone else, everything’s shut down,” Trump said. “He’s in his room. He’s happy, but he’s not as happy as you could be. He’d like to be playing sports, Barron.”
The first lady was preparing for the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, along with an April state dinner for Spain’s king and queen, according to the Sentinel-Tribune.
Those events have been postponed, along with an annual spring break week with son Barron at the family’s Mar-a-Lago private club in Palm Beach, Florida.
But that doesn’t mean that Mrs. Trump isn’t busy responding to the crisis brought on by the coronavirus.

Instead, she’s been burning up the long-distance phone lines checking in with her counterparts in U.S.-allied countries that also are struggling to control the virus, including Spain, Canada, France, Italy and Japan. Canada’s Sophie Grégroire recently recovered from the disease.
The first lady is also using her social media accounts to provide a steady stream of guidance and tips for coping under stay-at-home orders, including reposting CDC guidance about frequent hand-washing, keeping a social distance from others and other suggestions for avoiding infection.
She has thanked medical professionals, urged blood donation, suggested email and FaceTime as alternatives for keeping in touch with friends and family, and shared resources from Scholastic for the millions of K-12 students now learning online at home because their schools are closed.
“I encourage parents to let children know this will not last forever,” the first lady said in one video message.
Just last week, Mrs. Trump appeared before the cameras wearing a mask, urging her fellow Americans to take every precaution in preventing the spread of the virus.

Yet, amid this commendable effort from the graceful first lady, you have vile people like alleged comedian Michael Rapaport trashing her online, calling her a “hooker.”
