In what promises to be the “Live Aid” of today, Global Citizen and the World Health Organization have announced the “One World: Together At Home” special planned to “unify and inspire people around the world to take urgent action against COVID-19.”
Billed as a furtherance of the world uniting to combat the spread of the coronavirus, the “virtual global special” will air live across multiple TV networks on April 18, and will be hosted by Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel.

Suffice it to say, there’s not much love for President Donald Trump amongst the three late night talk show hosts.
The global special will feature an appearance by Lady Gaga, who was credited by the WHO with helping to curate the musical lineup — she once referred to Trump as “the f**king president of the United States.”
“It is so important to think globally and support the World Health Organization to curb the pandemic and prevent future outbreaks,” Lady Gaga was quoted in the WHO press release. “We want to highlight the gravity of this historical, unprecedented, and cultural movement.”
For what it’s worth, the WHO was citing Chinese authorities in mid-January to say there was “no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission” of the coronavirus — this despite a number of Chinese doctors saying otherwise.

If the event hosts aren’t enough to make you wonder how long it will take before the special devolves into a Trump bash-fest, the list of scheduled participants will surely do the trick.
Others scheduled to appear and perform are: Alanis Morissette, Andrea Bocelli, Billie Eilish, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Burna Boy, Chris Martin, David Beckham, Eddie Vedder, Elton John, FINNEAS, Idris and Sabrina Elba, J Balvin, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, Kerry Washington, Lang Lang, Lizzo, Maluma, Paul McCartney, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Shah Rukh Khan, and Stevie Wonder.
There are some rabid Trump haters included in the line up, none more deranged than Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder.
The special is intended to celebrate and support healthcare workers and others on the front lines.
“We need to tell the stories of and celebrate the front line community, health care workers, and their acts of kindness,” Lady Gaga said remotely, during a WHO news briefing to announce the event, according to The Hill.
“We want to highlight the gravity of this historical, unprecedented, cultural moment,” she added. “We want to celebrate and encourage the power of the human spirit.”
Lady Gaga confirmed during the press briefing that $35 million has been raised over the past seven days to support the WHO’s efforts, saying the special “is not actually a fundraiser.”
“Put your wallets away, put your credit cards away, and sit back and enjoy the show that you very much deserve,” she said.
Here’s a small sampling of responses from skeptical social media users who’ve been paying attention a little too long to not expect the worst:
