Biden confirms consideration of Dem hero, Michigan governor Trump calls ‘half-wit,’ for VP

Former Vice President Joe Biden admitted when pressed during an appearance on MSNBC this Tuesday that controversial Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer “made” his shortlist for vice president as early as two months ago.

He offered the admission after left-wing MSNBC host Brian Williams purposefully slid Whitmer’s name into a question about Biden’s potential VP choice.

“If you are indeed the nominee, can you share with us at least how many names are on your potential grab bag list for vice president and if any of the figures who have emerged from this coronavirus crisis — thinking specifically of, say, the governor of Michigan — if any of those figures have lengthened the list?” he asked.

She hadn’t lengthened the list — she made the list, in my mind, two months ago,” the Democrat front-runner candidate replied with a chuckle.

Note how both Williams and Biden seemed to portray Whitmer as some sort of heroic figure. Williams specifically spoke of “figures who have emerged from this coronavirus crisis,” and Biden eagerly accepted this narrative hook, line and sinker.

Except, in reality, the Michigan mayor is a highly controversial figure whose actions have earned her intense scrutiny not only from those real journalists who actually prize objectivity, but from President Donald Trump as well.

In a tweet posted last Friday, he referred to her as Gretchen “Half” Whitmer. Get it? “Half” Whitmer … as in halfwit? Learn more below:

Dovetailing back to the present …

“Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has come under criticism for a statewide order cracking down on prescriptions of hydroxychloroquine, a drug touted by President Trump to treat the novel coronavirus,” The Washington Times reported Sunday.

“The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs issued an order Wednesday warning physicians against writing prescriptions ‘without a legitimate medical purpose’ and instructing pharmacists to evaluate the ‘legitimacy’ of hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine prescriptions.”

The move provoked outrage from numerous voices, including Kathy Hoekstra of the Pacific Legal Foundation.

“During a time of crisis, in which physicians continue to see patients despite not having enough protective gear, this threatening, authoritarian stance from our governor is counterproductive at best,” she wrote in a critical op-ed for The Detroit Noises.

“The implications of Whitmer and her administration’s knee-jerk scare tactics should terrify all Michigan residents. Not only is our state’s top leader threatening the selfless health care workers who are on the frontline trying to save lives, but she’s denying possible life-saving medications to actual COVID-19 victims.”

Jim Santilli, a local man whose recovery from the deadly virus was attributable to these very medications, agreed.

“As a COVID-19 survivor who is currently recovering, I believe it is important to share my story publicly so others have hope,” he wrote in a since-deleted Facebook post uploaded Monday.

“The sad reality is Michigan’s Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, is failing the people of the state of Michigan. Rather than leading and making good choices that will help our wonderful people during this horrible COVID-19 situation, she continuously chooses to engage in partisan politics. That must end now.”

As to why he deleted the post, in an additional post uploaded a day later, he spoke of the “disgusting” comments that his original post had inspired from “the radical left.”

Speaking on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” late Monday, he offered more information about how these medications had helped him.

“I went into the hospital … on Wednesday, March 18, due to some severe, sudden onset of severe respiratory and cardiac issues,” he said. “What was interesting is I was being treated over a number of days through receiving Albuterol, as well as a steroid.”

“My condition continued to worsen until Saturday. Saturday was really the point that changed everything. That morning I was having severe difficulty breathing. I was gasping for air. I was feeling like I was slowly drowning, and I remember at that point thinking, ‘Am I going to live to see midnight or the next day?'”

All this happened before Whitmer essentially “threatened all doctors and pharmacists in the state who prescribe or dispense hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19,” as noted by Hoekstra.

“The physician had come in that morning, they did a chest x-ray and he stated that I had a lot of structural issues going on in my lungs, including some collapsing,” Santilli continued.

“He at that point told me they had pretty much exhausted all options and recommended they bring in an infectious disease physician. That physician arrived shortly after and that’s when he recommended trying the hydroxychloroquine, as well as the azithromycin.”

And the combination worked like a charm.

Less than 24 hours after Santilli’s appearance on FNC, reports emerged that the Michigan governor had finally reversed course.

“The Whitmer administration has since removed the language threatening doctors from the letter and is now asking the federal government to send shipments of the drug,” the Detroit Metro Times confirmed.

While this is good news, the fact that Whitmer thought even for just a mere second about denying her citizens in need access to what appears to be the most promising coronavirus cure raises questions about her judgment.

And that Biden seemingly doesn’t care about her lack of judgment in turn raises valid questions about his own lack of judgment — as does in reality almost every single thing he’s said or done in the past couple of weeks.
