The same left-wing zealots who’ve been shrieking the loudest for the entire country to be shut down regardless of the potentially disastrous economic repercussions are now raging mad at the Trump administration over the disastrous economic repercussions that have resulted because of the shutdowns and lockdowns they’ve been promoting.
The Left: “We have to shut down the economy for months, no matter how much it costs or what it does to Americans.”
Also the Left: “Wow! Those jobless claim numbers are really high!”

“A record-setting 3,283,000 people filed for unemployment benefits for the week ending March 21. This represents an unprecedented increase of over 3,001,000 from the previous week’s figures. It’s the highest level of claims in reported history,” Forbes reported Thursday morning.
As the story spread, so did the anger and vitriol from left-wing zealots. Their misguided exasperation ballooned further when Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin suggested during an appearance on CNBC that the current unemployment rate is likely irrelevant because the current economic crisis is hopefully slated to be only temporary.
Listen:
“To be honest, I think these numbers right now are not relevant, whether they’re bigger or smaller in the short term,” he said when asked about the new jobless numbers.
“Obviously, there are people who have jobless claims, and the good thing about this bill is the president is protecting those people. So now with these plans, small businesses hopefully will be able to hire back a lot of those people.”
The Trump-backed emergency coronavirus spending bill passed by the GOP-led Senate and currently stalled in the Democrat-led House contains money for businesses, money for the unemployed and money for those who remain employed but cannot work because of the shutdowns and lockdowns imposed on them by their respective governors.
“Last week, they didn’t know if they had protections, they didn’t have any cash, they had no choice,” Mnuchin continued. “Now with this bill passed by Congress, there are protections. And as I said, hopefully those workers will be rehired, but between these three programs, it protects all of American workers.”
He was right about the potential for workers to be hired but wrong about businesses and employees enjoying protection. Until House Speaker Nancy Pelosi allows the lower chamber of Congress to vote on the bill and pass it, these protections technically don’t exist. Yet for reasons that remain unclear, birthday girl Pelosi has delayed a vote.
In response to the treasury secretary’s level-headed comments, the usual band of propagandists — most of them affiliated with either the mainstream media or radical left-wing non-profits — obfuscated and lied by taking his remarks out of context.

This is propaganda, pure and simple, but as BPR’s past reporting has demonstrated, members of the mainstream left have a very passionate love affair with propaganda.
Meanwhile, one member of the media — The Atlantic contributor Annie Lowrey — expressed hope that unemployment would climb even higher, as that could potentially spur lawmakers into embracing full-on socialism.
“It would be better if the 3.3 million initial-claims number were higher: We want people to stop working to help stem the public-health catastrophe, and we want UI to cover everyone who has lost work,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
— Angelo J (@twiterifical) March 26, 2020
While despicable, Lowrey’s tweet wasn’t surprising, as members of the establishment left, including congressional Democrats and media “journalists,” have been drooling at the prospect of exploiting the global coronavirus pandemic to pursue their increasingly radical agenda.
Like House Majority Whip James Clyburn admitted last week, “This is a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.”
Thus far Democrats have attempted to enact this “restructuring” by sneaking their pet projects into the emergency coronavirus spending bill that was passed by the GOP-led Senate Thursday.
Front-runner Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden has indicated that he’d also like to see his congressional peers use the current crisis to enact the widely panned Green New Deal:
