Watch reporters repeatedly prod science team to go against Trump, say he’s WRONG to reopen economy

As egregious as it is to see the Democratic Party politicize the coronavirus outbreak, delaying much needed relief for the American people in the pursuit of partisan gains, their actions can be chalked up to low-ball politics.

But to watch the media undermine the commander-in-chief on a daily basis in the face of what is not only a public health crisis, but an economic emergency, is a whole other matter.

Having shut down much of the country in response to the Chinese virus, COVID-19, the U.S. economy is teetering as politicians in DC squabble, and President Trump said Monday that he will evaluate restrictions in place when the 15-day state of emergency he declared expires.

“We cannot let the cure be worse than the problem,” Trump tweeted late Sunday.

The reaction on the left was immediate push back, as they predicted doom and gloom if things opened up again — it’s almost as if they want the economy to tank.

Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume linked to a thread from a NY1 News reporter Anthony Pascale on New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo talking about restarting the economic engine.

“At some point, you have to open the valve because this is not sustainable,” Cuomo is quoted as saying.

Hume tweeted, “This is what POTUS has been saying, to the evident dismay of much of the WH press corps.”

At the now daily press briefings, the president holds to keep the nation informed — a briefing that CNN and MSNBC choose to air at their discretion — the issue was raised again.

“Our country wasn’t built to be shut down,” he told White House reporters. “This is not a country that was built for this. We’re not going to let the cure be worse than the problem.”

“America will again and soon be open for business,” Trump added. “Very soon. A lot sooner than three or four months that somebody was suggesting.”

As OANN’s Jack Posobiec stressed, this is “an economic *and* public health crisis,” and that a “balancing” of the two issues is needed.

Looking to exploit the experts advising “social distancing” as an answer to limiting the spread of the virus, the media worked hard to drive a wedge between Trump and the scientists on the White House task force battling the virus.

For the Trump-hating media caught up in a game of “gotcha,” these briefings are little more than a daily opportunity to portray the president in a negative light.

The media was quick to point out that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading expert in infectious diseases, was not at Monday night’s press conference.

When asked if Fauci agrees with opening the economy back up, Trump replied that he “doesn’t not agree.”

“He isn’t here because we’re not discussing what he’s best at,” the president said, in regard to Fauci’s absence.

A reporter asked U.S. State Department health official Deborah Birx if she was “okay” with reopening the economy, after noting that the president said some of his doctors that he’s talking to are okay with it.

“What the president has asked us to do is to assemble all the data and give him our best medical recommendation based on all the data,” Birx replied. “That’s what he has asked us to do and so that’s what we’ll do.”

The reporter did not get the contradiction she was seeking, not that she wouldn’t press Birx to speculate to answer the question “now.”
