Americans who have had their livelihoods taken away from them without notice as a result of the Chinese virus COVID-19 are hurting and desperately looking to the U.S. government to deliver much needed relief.
Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin joined with President Trump last week at a press briefing and assured Americans that checks will be coming in a matter of days, and the Senate worked through the weekend on a spending measure. With a bipartisan deal within reach, House Speaker Nanacy Pelosi threw a hand grenade into the mix.
So egregious was her actions that the hashtag #PelosiChokesWhilePeopleGoBroke was soon trending online.
A massive $1.6 trillion emergency funding bill providing critically needed assistance to American families and the economy was blown up Sunday when the California Democrat said she would not support the measure and would offer her own spending bill in due time.
The fact that Pelosi would brazenly delay a much needed stimulus effort without paying a dear price politically can only be explained by her media enablers, who can be counted on to run cover for her obstruction.
Obstruction that allows her to craft a bill stuffed with goodies for the left.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., was livid, and in what proved to be a very rare occurrence, he criticized the speaker of the House from the Senate floor.
"The notion that we have time to play games here w/the American economy & the American people is utterly absurd"
Democrat leaders are blocking a bill DEMOCRATS helped negotiate
Then Schumer and Pelosi roll in and blow it up over politics
Unacceptable!pic.twitter.com/7viqrzkOFE

“Now the build up to this, so everybody fully understands, is that we had a high level of bipartisanship in five different working groups over the last 48 hours where members who were participating were reaching agreement,” McConnell said. “And then all of a sudden the Democratic leader and the Speaker of the House shows up, and we’re back to square one. So, we’re fiddling here — fiddling with the emotions of the American people, fiddling with the markets, fiddling with our health care. The American people expect us to act tomorrow. And I want everybody to fully understand — if we aren’t able to act tomorrow, it will be because of our colleagues on the other side continuing to dicker when the country expects us to come together and address this problem.”
The lemmings on the left praised Pelosi for her actions, convinced in their limited grasp on events that she is looking out for the people and standing up to American corporations — this being part of the progressive left’s familiar class warfare angle.
And while the media dutifully ran cover for the Democratic leader, social media was another matter.
Here’s a sampling of some of those responses:
Let me be clear: I detest Mitch McConnell.
But in this case, he’s right. @TheDemocrats need to put on their big boy/girl pants, stop messing around and get it done. #NancyChokesWhilePeopleGoBroke #DemocratsAreDestroyingAmerica https://t.co/dRQH53R4kO

Voters will remember that Democrats made this time more stressful by playing politics with livelihoods. #NancyChokesWhilePeopleGoBroke

People defending Democrats for blocking a bill that would have helped them perhaps most of us …they’ve convinced them that corporations (you know, where jobs come from) are so bad that it’s a good thing they and their families may go without. Wow. #NancyChokesWhilePeopleGoBroke

Nancy Pelosi is preventing Americans from getting checks from the government when they need it most. Voters will not forget this in November. #NancyChokesWhilePeopleGoBroke

Let’s be clear about what’s happening right now: We had a bipartisan deal to deliver critical relief to hardworking families until Nancy Pelosi blew it up so she could play politics.
Enough already! We’re in the middle of a national emergency. Drop the partisan demands.

The plan worked out by the Senate over the weekend was companies would be given loan bailout money on the condition that they continue to pay their employees. The loan would then be forgiven when this is over. Cash for individuals, too.
Nancy killed it. #NancyPelosi

#NancyPelosi has TDS, so she can’t be objective or do right thing.
She can only lie, obstruct, & falsely accuse Trump.
Now she’s blocking aid for Americans who need it.
To do harm.
She’s a child owned by her emotions.Dems,
Pelosi HATES.
U elected her.
What does that say abt u?— Philip Schuyler (@FiveRights) March 23, 2020
Hey San Francisco, its bad enough you elected this fossil @SpeakerPelosi to ruin your city, but now she’s screwing up the whole country by stopping the Corona Virus bill that would give Americans some much needed cash#NancyPelosi #SanFrancisco #CoronavirusPandemic #coronavirus https://t.co/CxFmEc4KAn pic.twitter.com/gKNRDSDji2

Nancy Pelosi has been in congress since June 2, 1987. But her nuking of a bipartisan pandemic relief package will be her legacy.
She is the SWAMP QUEEN.

Where is @JoeBiden to tell his longtime friends in @SenateDems especially @SenSchumer (and in the @HouseDemocrats especially @SpeakerPelosi) to end this destructive obstruction? Dems shot the tires out of the fire truck last night. Their presumptive nominee should lead. Now. ASAP

Looks like Speaker Pelosi tossed a political grenade into the coronavirus relief negotiations tonight.
Workers and small businesses should be the focus here, not her liberal wishlist. pic.twitter.com/HJMK3nPuaZ
