President Donald Trump is clearly working very heard in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, and he appears to be growing impatient with the liberal media, which is obsessed with playing a game of “gotcha” with Trump, dissecting his every word in a fast-paced, ever-changing crisis.
Remarkably, in the face of a pandemic, the anti-Trump media are proving that their partisan agenda may be more deadly to this country than a fast-spreading virus.
NBC reporter Peter Alexander asked the president about various experimental drugs that are being looked at to treat the virus, only to then counter Trump’s positive take on the potential of these drugs by citing NIAID chief Dr. Anthony Fauci saying “there is no magic drug.”
“Is it possible that your impulse to put a positive spin on things is maybe giving Americans a false sense of hope and misrepresenting preparedness right now?” the reporter then asked.
“No I don’t think so,” President Trump replied. “Such a lovely question. Look, it may work and it may not work. I feel good about it. That’s all it is, just a feeling, smart guy.”
He went on to explain the process playing out, but Alexander was not content with the response and continued to poke the bear.
“What do you say Americans who are scared, though?” he asked. “Nearly 200 dead, 14,000 who are sick, millions, as you witnessed, who are scared right now. What do you say to Americans who are watching you right now who are scared?”
“I say that you’re a terrible reporter,” a visibly angry Trump replied. “I think that’s a very nasty question. And I think it’s a very bad signal that you’re putting out to the American people. The American people are looking for answers and they’re looking for hope, and you’re doing sensationalism, and the same with NBC and Con-cast, I don’t call them Comcast.”
“That’s really bad reporting,” he added, “and you out to get back to reporting instead of sensationalism.”
To the surprise of no one who has been paying attention, given that the networks are mirror images of one other when it comes to hating on Trump, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins came to Alexander’s defense when called on.
“Do you really think going off on Peter, going off on a network is appropriate for when the country is going through something like this?” Collins asked.
(The hypocrisy of the question being off the charts, as the left has become reliable at projecting their very behavior on others.)
“I’ve dealt with Peter for a long time, and I think Peter is not a good journalist when comes to fairness,” Trump responded. “This is the time to come together. But coming together is much harder when we have dishonest journalists.”
Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume put things into proper perspective when he replied to once-respected Never-Trumper David French claiming Alexander asked a “legitimate question.”
Hume tweeted: “Legitimate question my a**. It was the kind of bullsh*t gotcha question which hack WH reporters have been asking for decades. But instead of going off on the reporter, Trump should have said the whole briefing in all its particulars was a message to people who are scared.”
