With balcony serenades and flash mob choirs, Italy has raised the bar when it comes to COVID-19 “social distancing” and other means of quarantines.
But a social media user under the name Marilyn Starkloff created her own solution to weathering the storm, introducing the “quarantiniii.”
A tweet from the account featured a drink in a martini glass, an opened packet of the powdered vitamin supplement Emergen-C and a half-empty bottle of Aviation gin.
“Time for a quarantiniii??,” the tweet read, along with a masked emoji and green martini glass.

Under different circumstances, Emergen-C would surely love the gratuitous plug, but not in this case.
The company responded to Starkloff’s post: “We do not recommend taking any of our products with alcohol.”

And while that may have been the corporately responsible thing to do, Aviation saw it in a different light.
Hitting it out of the park, the gin company responded: “While everyone should take precaution during these times we do not recommend having a ‘Quarantini’ or any alcohol if you’re feeling under the weather. If you’re feeling fine and of legal drinking age, a little extra Vitamin C consumption doesn’t hurt.”

Social media users saw things in a similar light, siding with Starkloff over Emergen-C.
With the coronavirus shutting down most forms of entertainment around the globe, social media lends itself well to the circumstances, and Starkloff let her sentiments be known in replying to a user telling the company, “You’re not the boss of us. Especially after we purchased that stuff.”

I can confirm these things:
1) I am not sick
2) I am of legal drinking age
3) This actually tastes good
4) I need more Aviation Gin before the time comes for me to self-isolate.#quarantini : #aviationgin #emergenc #sodastream pic.twitter.com/e1E5JmAkUg— K Larissa (@kaylarissa17) March 14, 2020

In the end, it’s hard to argue that the real winner here was Aviation Gin — this is one company that doesn’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
Please refer to our PR statement from earlier today…BUT are those Cadbury Minis!? And that green thing…a cookie jar or teapot? https://t.co/pQho3uZ32l

Again so sorry for this @emergenc

Although, the apparently fun-loving Marilyn Starkloff seemd to be having a great time, as seen below when she recognized that Aviation Gin owner Ryan Reynolds retweeted the response from his company.
Holy shit balls. How did I not notice @VancityReynolds retweeted this. Another wonderful suprise
