While panicked Americans have been purchasing bundles of toilet paper, water and other supplies because of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, Asian Americans have instead been reportedly stocking up on guns out of a fear of backlash — and justifiably so.
The panic is especially prominent along the liberal coasts.
“[T]here’s an acute fear among Asian-Americans that the virus’s origins in China will spark a violent xenophobic backlash. Along the West Coast, where the worst outbreaks of coronavirus in the United States have occurred, those fears seem to be spurring a surge in gun sales,” The Trace, a far-left outlet, reported Friday.
“People are panicking because they don’t feel secure,” David Liu, the Chinese American owner of Los Angeles’ Arcadia Firearm and Safety, said. “They worry about a riot or maybe that people will start to target the Chinese.”

This attack occurred on America’s liberal East Coast.
“Disturbing new video shows what appears to be a racially-motivated crime sparked by fear over the coronavirus,” local station WABC reported Friday.
“The video shows a man on a New York City subway train arguing with a fellow passenger who is Asian, then spraying Febreeze air freshener at that passenger.”
Speaking with The Trace, Liu said his sales have quintupled in the past two weeks, to the point that he’s currently sold out of Glocks.
“According to Liu, his customers are overwhelmingly of Chinese descent. They worry, he explained, that in the event of mass panic, they might face violence because of their ethnicity, and be easy victims because of historically low rates of gun ownership,” the outlet noted.
Last month, an Asian NYC woman lost two teeth after a black homeless man called her “diseased” and assaulted her outside a subway for wearing a facial mask.

The Trace noted that Asians “have experienced intensifying venom, including bullying, racist comments, and harassment” across the world because of the coronavirus, including here in the United States.
Is it any wonder, therefore, that Asian Americans want to protect themselves?
Over in Washington, meanwhile, Wade’s Eastside Guns in Bellevue has reportedly experienced a sixfold increase in gun sales thanks to first-time Asian gun purchasers.
“The main thing I’m hearing is that they don’t want to get jumped because of their race,” Cole Gaughran, the store’s Internet sales manager, told The Trace.
And getting jumped and much worse is exactly what Asians everywhere have been experiencing.

The virus is not the worse enemy…our fear and anger is.

For reasons that remain unclear, a number of outlets in the establishment media have tried to blame the violence and harassment specifically on white “racism” and “xenophobia.”
From January through February, numerous op-eds and reports in “esteemed” left-wing publications — Vox, The Washington Post and CNN, of course — tried conflating unrepentant racism with white people merely displaying precaution and common sense in the face of a pandemic.
The theme appeared to be that the “many bigoted Western reactions to the coronavirus” all originate with white people, as was written in Vox.
But limited attention has been given to tangible acts of harassment and violence, all as the Asian community’s fears have compounded.
Over at Lynnwood Gun and Ammunition in Lynnwood, Washington, co-owner Tiffany Teasdale has reportedly also seen a sixfold explosion in gun sales thanks to Asian American customers.
“We’ve had a line of customers before opening Thursday through Sunday, and customers in the store until 10 to 15 minutes after closing,” she said to The Trace. “We used to sell from 10 to 15 firearms in a weekend. [We sold] 60 firearms just [last] Saturday.”
The trend, which she said has also affected nearby stores, has caused distributors to run out of 9mm ammunition.
“A lot of our distributors nationally are saying that all of their warehouses are empty. None of them know why,” she said.
It’s not entirely clear how gun control activists feel about the surge in gun sales. Newtown Action, a gun control group launched after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012, posted a tweet last week lamenting that “[m]ore guns =more gun deaths” but admitting that Asian Americans are justifiably “afraid of violent xenophobic backlash from the #Coronavirus outbreak.”
