Commenting on former Vice President Joe Biden’s big Super Tuesday showing, Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume said that Democrats have decided that Biden represents a “safe bet” in taking on President Donald Trump.
But for one telling factor — he’s an “iffy candidate” who may not be in his right mind.
This coming as Biden stood on stage Tuesday night and introduced his wife as his little sister and his sister as his wife.
“Biden is capable of saying the most remarkable things and he has kind of gotten by with it lo these many years,” Hume said, noting that if Biden is the nominee and has a “horrible gaffe” or forgets where he is “at the absolute wrong moment,” it could prove to be critical.
There was some discussion about whether a safe choice candidate can prevail, before co-host Bret Baier asked, “Is it possible that Joe Biden’s gaffes are kind of like Donald Trump’s tweets, it doesn’t affect the face of the party?”
Co-host Dana Perino suggested Democrats “don’t care” about the gaffes, but Hume countered that there’s more to Biden’s many blunders.
“There are two kinds of Biden gaffes,” he said. “There are the kinds he’s always made, and maybe this one tonight was one of those. He’s prone to that and always has been, no big deal. But more recently we have seen cases in which he didn’t know where he was.”
“Those are more disturbing because they suggest he may be non compos mentis, or at least, headed in that direction,” Hume concluded — the phrase meaning “not sane or in one’s right mind.”
Co-host Chris Wallace pointed to how things are “baked into the stock market,” to say, “I sorta feel that’s the way it is with voters and Joe Biden.”
“But how many other people voted for him tonight would agree that he’s senile? Or getting there?” Hume asked. “I think not many.”
“Wow, I think that’s a little harsh,” co-host Juan Williams then interjected.
Hume has visited this theme multiple times, as recently as last month as he took note of some of the former vice president’s more critical errors.
“I have known Biden since he came to the Senate,” the analyst said. “I always liked him. He’s one of the nicest people in politics. He is same age I am and … those are not standard Biden gaffes, the kind he’s always made. Those are gaffes that have to do with being old and senile.”
“And how do I know that? I’m a bit that way myself. I’m very sympathetic to him,” he added.
In Sept. 2019, Hume referenced Biden’s claim that he met with Parkland, Florida, high school students in 2018 as vice president, even though he had been out of office since 2016.
“The fact that he misremembered that is not a gaffe,” he noted. “That’s the kind of memory problems that people his age, and indeed my age, have all the time. I think the thing that may catch up with Biden over time, even among Democrats who would otherwise be for him, is the feeling that senility is overtaking him. And I think it is.”
In August 2019, Hume tweeted that Biden’s gaffes “suggest the kind of memory loss associated with senility.”
Biden has always made gaffes by the bushel, but some his recent ones suggest the kind of memory loss associated with senility. E.G: This one, plus forgetting remembering he was not vp when meeting Parkland students, twice confusing Theresa May with Margaret Thatcher. https://t.co/WpXDd0XVQL

Of course, conservative actor James Woods had a perfect take on the method in the Democrats’ madness.
“So I pretty much predicted this. It’ll be #Biden and #Hillary as his vice presidential candidate. He will eventually “gracefully” resign as his dementia worsens and… Voila! #MadamePresident at last! (and in case he gets indicted for his Ukraine corruption, she’ll pardon him…,” he tweeted.
